I have heard that there's a small chance that Verge will become the permanent AD and Wilson the HC. I have doubts but who knows.

President will be hired next week. I suspect AD by end of Nov. No coach will be hired by then. Verge is window shopping and holding the purse right now.

They said President will be hired Tuesday

The new President will be announced very soon. Then the Head coaching search will really start. The BOS are still putting together a team to search for a head coach. It's not like they will hire a head coach next week. These things take time. I doubt we will hear anything more than "we are talking to several candidates in November."

That’s what I’m saying. New president should be in VERY soon. Get the new AD in shortly after and then you’re right back on the normal process of bringing in the coach. We’ve got at least a month before you can likely even begin to bring in the guys we seem to want.
I’m sure that’s what will wind up happening. It’s not like we’re hiring a HC next week. We fired Les and O earlier than we did Kelly, and we didn’t hire O and Kelly until November 26th and November 30th, respectively. But the conversations have to start being had now. We can’t just wait.
Just like there’s no way we’re waiting until next week when the new President takes over to reach out to potential ADs and their representatives. The President will insert himself into the search and use whatever influence he has/wants to use at that time and we’ll have an AD within a couple of weeks. Good thing about that position is there’s no “season” to wait to play out. They can be hired at any time of the year.
The press conference this morning was 100% damage control to settle down the fanbase, potential coaches, recruits, the national media, etc…to preserve the LSU brand after the governor’s antics. Normally the interim AD would be announced via an online release from the university. This morning was abnormal because of Landry and the shitstorm he caused. Optically, at least. Hopefully it’s not quite the internal shite storm it appears outwardly.
Tl;dr—it will almost definitely play out the way you suggest. We just had to put a face to what is happening for PR reasons. Verge will likely make calls to agents and coaches and advisors to gauge interest, get suggestions, and start the vetting processes. But he won’t be the one actually making the hire. There’s time for alignment.
However, I do think it’s more important to hire the RIGHT AD and HC. I think there’s plenty of time to do that. But if we think we have somebody and they back out at the last minute, it’d be much better to wait and make a hire than panicking and hiring Frank or somebody like we did with O.

This is such a tired talking point. A little uncertainty doesn’t concern people that aren’t weak minded.

AD choice is so important. If it's a package deal from McNeese then that indicates cost cutting and way too much influence from the governor.
Real AD from established school like FSU? Then it's business as usual.

An AD who has won 6 championships in 6 years is not normally let go.
It was mentioned this afternoon on a radio show that Woodward basically sealed his fate earlier in the year maybe last year when a Landry benefactor wanted to rehire the Pear and he refused.
Not sure if true but seeing how Landry has conducted business over the past couple of years it seems extremely plausible.
