I had always been under the impression that Berserkers were on shrooms. And there’s some evidence. But there’s lots of other theories out there. Some other hallucinogenic. Mass hallucination/delusion. . PTSD is one I just saw from some psychiatrists which is super dark.

What do you think it is?

It’s possible but I don’t think so. They probably did, but sources talk about them foaming at the mouths with rage and many many references to biting their shields.

"They didnt know it then but the storm had blown them right across the Atlantic. And the coast they sheltered on was Greenland". "But as they waited for the storm to pass, they spotted a man dead face down in the snow. They saw his seal and fur clothes and thought he must be an inuit. But as they flipped him and saw that he had fair skin and red hair they realized, He was a norseman like them."

"Who was this norseman so far from home. Why was he dressed like an inuit hunter. And in this bleak and uninhabited wasteland, where in the world had he come from?"

Perhaps some sort of ergot rye fungus?

Ergot rot doesn’t necessarily cause like roid rage that berserker shite does

Not to mention, they seemed somewhat capable of causing there berserker state. Even if it was ptsd, that’s something you can trigger. If my memory serves, the grain species is usually all the could tell for ergus rot. Like “hey, once every few years, rye bread makes us go crazy. No more rye bread.” I don’t know if that’s something they could have controlled

It’s what happens when whites harness their inner hyperborean energy, no drugs needed. Powerful, they don’t want you to know this.

Something else. The men in my family are all apparently berserkers.

It’s why we don’t drink. Can’t afford to lose control. I have to fight for control when I get mad stone cold sober.

Crazy me I thought it was an established fact that they took henbane ( I didn't remember the name of the plant, I had to look that part up) in less than lethal doses because it mimic's activation of the sympathetic nervous system. It was referenced in one of my bio or bio chem classes with the instructor going on about the "dose makes the poison"... well no shite Sherlock, too much H20 will kill ya, anything can kill ya if you take enough of it. The funny part is I am looking at things in the PPM and PPB ranges so I am on the complete opposite end of what she was trying to hit home. If we have a scientist we are usually working with micrograms or micromoles per dL or smaller people just act crazy when you pull out the metric system or chemistry.

Don't underestimate a culture of raping, pillaging, and fighting, which valued dying with a sword in your hand.

Humans are a violent species.

My love for you is like a truck, Berserker
Would you like some making frick, Berserker
My love for you is like a rock, Berserker

The Berserker is just so obscene
Likes evil people you know what I mean
He takes your soul and then just rips you apart
He'll steal your heart

Would you like to smoke some pot, Berserker
My love for you is ticking clock, Berserker
Would you like to suck my cock, Berserker
Would you like some making frick, Berserker

I highly doubt PTSD fueled the Berserkers’ rage. Norse culture glorified war and violence to the point these were normal, even sought after aspects of life for them. To speculate Norse warriors suffered PTSD as is common in modern combatants is to totally discount the Norse culture and life experience and replace it with our own much more soft, feminized culture.

I’ve always thought something similar to this. I don’t understand why some people think they HAD to be on substances to be that violent. I just think some people have it in them and some people don’t. And the ones who do have it aren’t understood.
