If not you’ll be idling in the drive-thru daiquiri stop…

Anti-Drunk Driving Technology Mandated by 2026 in new vehicles

The sensor above the steering will constantly monitor for ethanol while normal breathing. Apparently this can differentiate between driver or drunk arse passenger.

Doubt this shite ever happens that quick…

There is that conservative LA government.

Scruffy will never move back to that state.

This is the Biden Federal Govt doing this. Why are you pointing to Louisiana?

I guess this is an area where I’m a bit more moderate/liberal because I see no problem with checks and balances in place to ensure you’re not being an a-hole drunk driver on your way to hit my wife while she has my children in the car with her.

Downvote away, I don’t give a shite.

While there are no specifics, the mandated technology in future models 2026 and beyond needs to "passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired."

Wonder how the FOP feels about this? Can’t lose their cash cow…

Also, high schoolers will find a way around this before anyone else does…

This is not about protecting people, but rather to eventually limit your ability to use your car... mark it down.

We’re seriously about to be the next Cuba. In 2042 everyone will still be driving 2004 Toyota’s and Honda’s.

Systems help prevent Human Failure,,,,,,this is premise behind systems and redundancy in aviation regulation. As a species, we haven’t been able to manage alcohol and drugs as it pertains to motor vehicle operations. And a fatality due to impaired driving isn’t the singular measure of failure, rather the number of times a person under the influence operates a vehicle is,,,,,,and therefore you cannot quantity how many “potential” injuries and fatalities could have occurred. And until we can change the impaired behaviors, systems best manage this. Until you’ve seen 5 dead people in a car, all of which are sober, and the other cars driver, barely injured but snot slinging drunk, it might be hard for some to digest this.

I bet more people are killed because of cell phone use than drunk drivers. How about we fix that?

~30 people die every day from drunk driving. If they only killed themselves then I wouldn’t care but I’ve known people that were killed due to some a-hole’s selfish decision.

Or spray cologne/perfume, or gargle with listerine right before you get in the car. Both of these cause false fails on breathalyzers to this day.

Will be interesting.

I’m all for controlling drunk driving, but we have already voluntarily given the government the ability to track our every move, now we are going to allow them to control those movements???

Guess I’ll be driving the square body.
