After Basecamp and Coinbase earlier this year... Kraken, a Bitcoin platform says STFU and work.

LINK to CEO's Twitter thread highlights, because I know many of y'all hate twitter:
quote:

We had a few heated debates and it turns out we have about 20 people out of 3200 who are totally not on board.
It's just a few troublemakers.
quote:

60% have been with the company for < 6 months. So, no biggie, except 20 unhappy people can sap the productivity out of another 400 with little effort.
Ain't that the truth
quote:

What are they upset about?
* DEI (Silicon Valley's version)
* pronouns, whether someone can identify as a different race and be allowed to use the N-word
* whether differences in human sex exist at all
* being respected and unoffended
* being "harmed" by "violent" words

quote:

We've got people in 70+ countries, speaking 50+ languages in the company, trying to build products for people in 190. Differing perspectives will be shared. That's DIVERSITY. It's not always easy. You've gotta be resilient, humble, open and highly tolerant of differing norms.

quote:

Funny thing is the biggest activists have the most myopic view of the world. They don't realize how discriminatory they are to others. You want to be "inclusive" by asking an ESL Saudi candidate his pronouns/gender in a job interview?

quote:

Most people don't care and just want to work, but they can't be productive while triggered people keep dragging them in to debates and therapy sessions. The answer for us was to just lay out the culture doc and say: agree and commit, disagree and commit, or take the cash
Amen!

quote:

If nobody is ever offended, we either don’t have enough diversity of thought or we don’t have enough transparency in communication. We recognize that hurt feelings are inevitable in a global organization that is optimizing for team outcomes above individual sentiment. The ideal Krakenite is thick-skinned and well intentioned.
Bravo!

The whole world has been pandering to whiny children throwing temper tantrums in order to get their way.

Glad someone is finally telling them to grow up. It seems no one else has.

LINK to their full culture document

quote:

We acknowledge that when individuals come together a beautiful melting pot forms — one which consists of very different societal norms, world perspectives, opinions, preferences, expectations, and senses of humor.  Within our global and diverse company, these differences are magnified. We have team members from over 70+ countries, speaking 50+ languages, and representing a wide range of demographics.  As a result, it is inevitable to have a wide range of individual standards and principles at our company.  We embrace and celebrate this reality of diversity.

Diversity cannot exist if there is no 1) diversity of thought and 2) tolerance of diverse thoughts.

We believe that expecting or encouraging Krakenites to strive to never ever offend their fellow teammates and/or to be compelled into conforming to the most vocal colleague’s societal or cultural norms, leads to a significant reduction in our ability to build and celebrate diversity and inclusiveness.

quote:

* Everyone is responsible for their own feelings

* Being offended doesn’t necessarily make you right

* Being offended doesn’t necessarily make you “harmed”

* Words nor silence are ever “violence”

* We say why we disagree and calmly challenge ideas with logic, reason and better ideas

* We do not call someone’s words toxic, hateful, racist, x-phobic, unhelpful, etc.

* We always work to de-escalate a discussion that becomes emotional

quote:

* Should we aim to be exemplary in terms of stereotypical team diversity measurements? No.

* Should we donate money to the Current Thing? No.

* Should we mandate the seasonal flu vaccine? No.

[quote]There is no room for tribalism, in-fighting or the pursuit of agendas that are not officially set by the company. We cannot allow ourselves to be distracted by petty disputes over first-world problems while the rest of the world suffers with a real humanitarian crisis that we can help solve. Not only that, we are in competition with other businesses fighting for the same clients. This is not a lifestyle business. This is a grow and win or die business.

Just a couple of more snippets. Its gold.

quote:

We hire strictly based on merit, meaning we seek out the candidates with the abilities, knowledge, and skills considered the most suitable for the job.
quote:

We reject the myopic view that “diversity” can be captured by a short checklist of obvious physical features. Silicon Valley’s view of diversity in the world is dangerously limited, a commodification of individuals, and a disturbing reflection of profound ignorance. Viewed through a global lens, diversity is infinite. We place an emphasis on equality of opportunity, regardless of background.

"inclusiveness" is one of those words that actually means the opposite of what it is says.

It means exclude everyone who doesn't push the far left social narrative and include only those who do.

Just like how "diversity" just always means fewer white people.

These environments that every big tech company militantly attempts to enforce only creates more weakness within the company. Many of these people are completely unfit for any other profession, as in they couldnt work any other job without their preferred social rule enforcement mechanisms, and these tech companies have fostered that even further.

I will be switching exchanges. The clear thought process is refreshing from a company of this sort. Bravo

That's 20 stupid bastards that didn't realize the company doesn't need or want them. The others were smart enough to just STFU and work.

From what I understand, Netflix actually has a very strong culture for its workforce despite the woke programming.

I read somewhere that they actively avoid calling employees family or friends. We are a team achieving a goal and they will remove teammates that are in the way with that post haste.

This is truly profound, and every person drawing breath in America should truly contemplate this no matter what "side" they're on.

This "anti-woke" trend is refreshing. The return of common sense may be nigh.

I hope and pray the pendulum is swinging back to the normal people. We have sincere, and in some cases existential, problems in this country, and pronouns and feelings aren't on that list.

Gutfeld had a great observation the other day: the ability to be "woke" is the ultimate privilege. It means your life is devoid of all real problems, so you have time to sit around and concoct ways to be offended.
