We will be in the area in hill country and thinking of adding a couple days in SA. Is it worth visiting and and recommendations?

Ehhh.

It’s worth seeing the Alamo I guess and briefly the Riverwalk.

Eat and stay at The Pearl area not downtown or the Riverwalk.

I think a day and night is fine.

If you have kids there's stuff to do there. As an adult I would bore quickly.

It’s really cool if you’ve never been. The Riverwalk is pretty unique.

I live in Boerne, a hill country town about 30 minutes from SA. I would say it’s a cool city but we often find ourselves staying in the hill country. The pearl is very nice and near the river walk. If you have questions, just let me know

The tacos are excellent, but I say pass. It's just another big city.

That loop takes 20 minutes to walk max?

I mean it's neat, but it's not A three day trip or anything.

I hate SA but I also spent a year and a half down there for work so I know I'm biased.

Alamo is cool but much smaller than you would expect, can probably do it in an hour. All of the things around the Riverwalk are very touristy.

The Pearl is good and has some nice restaurants along with the La Cantera area.

If you have kids, Sea World is also fun. This time of year, though, it's generally only open on weekends.

Sure, just don't waste your time with the Alamo.

You must not stop anywhere along the walk.

The San Antonio River Walk is 15 miles long, with five miles of that flowing through downtown San Antonio.

Exactly. I'm not sure what Riverwalk he is on. It's much longer than a 20 min walk. I think a weekend in SA in nice.

Besides just the Riverwalk and the Alamo, I would also recommend the Mission San Jose, the Cathedral, and El Mercado. There are also some nice areas in Brackenridge Park, like the Japanese Tea Garden.

People aren't using the whole thing when they visit.

Is there a certain section of the board walk that we should concentrate on?

No. I was in town for work. I enjoyed walking the riverwalk and the Alamo. If I had gone as a tourist I would have been underwhelmed.

Hell no. The Riverwalk is a series of restaurants and junk shops with a Wal-Mart crowd walking around. Seaworld's walkways are mostly unshaded and ... PAVED WITH ASPHALT, which is super fun between April and November. San Antonio has nearly no redeeming qualities, except as the crossroads of human trafficking of North America.

See the Alamo, get in, pay your $16 in parking fees, and get the F out. I'd much rather hit Gonzales than San Antonio, but that's probably a part of your itinerary already.
