Would a powerplay by Zion against Griff work with Gayle?

I'm not so sure it would. For every good thing Griff has done, he's done something equally dumb.

I'm fine with him getting canned. I would prefer Gayle come to this realization on her own.

But what do you think would happen if Zion went full on KD and demanded a trade unless Griff is fired?

You don't tell Billionaires what to do or give them ultimatums. What Zion would have to do is show her that he's a problem and keeping you from helping the team win. And she could very easily rebutt any of his claims with "why aren't you in better shape" and he'd have no leg to stand on.

What needs to happen is a coup. It's rumored that Trajan and Swin were the ones that picked Willie after the SVG mistake by Griff. Zion needs to go to those 2 and let them know he can't work with Griff anymore and then Trajan and Swin need to go to Mrs. Benson and say they think Griff needs to go.

But Griff gave both of them their jobs which were a step up from their last jobs. Things would need to get pretty bad before they'd go there.

And to date that is turning out to be a bad hire. The guy can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

Gayle should side with zion but Idk if she would. Zion playing basketball gets us closer to contention than anything Griff could do this offseason. Stars win titles, and Griff isn't some mastermind irreplaceable GM. If he were gone we would be one of the top destinations for GMs with Zion, BI, young talent, and draft capital to work with.

There are specifics with Xs and Os we can all point to, but this is so overblown.

We had wayyyyyy more injuries to our top 2 players than every single team in the top 10 in the West, and we're still above .500.

Record wise, I'm just not sure we have realistic expecations out of Willie and team without so much of Zion and BI.

There's a reason almost all first time coaches get a grizzled former head coach as their lead assistant, and we're seeing it play out this season. Not hiring Sam Mitchell in addition to or instead of Jaron Collins was a mistake.

Thats just a lie. He just won 42 games in his second year ever as a head coach with zion and BI missing most of the year. Can he improve? yeah but he is a far cry from a bad hire. A bad hire is SVG who won less games despite having a fully healthy zion and BI

Let's play hypothetical here and Griff gets fired.

Maybe we don't make a splashy GM hire and just elevate Trajan.

What do you think he would do?

New training staff?
Force a new staff on Willie?
What would the approach be with Zion?
New philosophy on roster management? More 3 point shooters, athletic bigs?

Was a great rookie coach that had the fan base more excited about a coach in the franchise's history. One year later it's a bad hire. This board man

It's hard to know. He could have a million ideas but is suppressed by griff or he could share the same thoughts that griff has and therefore would be more of the same. The only way to find out is to do a thorough and objective interview process that find the best candidate

He did what he was hired to do. Changed the culture and get guys to buy into the program and believe in him as the coach. Do we need to upgrade the coaching staff with better basketball minds and knowledge? Absolutely. but you can't sit there and not expect Green who is an inexperienced guy to be without flaws. It's part of being a young head coach. And he's learning as he goes. We need a better coaching staff to help him navigate through his struggles.

LOL stop being so emotional, Willie has been far from a bad hire. Dude was coach of the month when Zion was playing. The fact we where able to when this many games with our two best players basically missing 2/3 the season is amazing. When the Warriors where without Curry and Klay for the season they fricking sucked I guess Karr can't coach either.

I understand having a former head coach on your bench is good for young nba head coaches, but why Sam Mitchell? There’s a reason why he hasn’t coached for 3 years now, he’s washed up and was never that successful to begin with.

There’s much better options than Sam Mitchell, not really understanding this infatuation you have with him.

What has Griffin done to Zion?

I don't understand why Zion would be mad at him or care to get him fired..

He's not a good head coach, and he's not a good x's and o's coach, but he's exactly the kind of assistant coach you want around a young team. There probably isn't a better players coach out there than him.

Games played:
BI 45 and Zion 29 - 74 total with most of them not together. Cj/Trey/JV/Naji all over 75
AD 55 and Lebron 56 - 111
Edwards 79 and KAT 29 - 108
Curry 56 and Klay 69 - 125 and Poole 82
Kawhi 52 and PG 56 - 108 and Powell 60
Morant 61 and JJJ 63 - 124 and Bane 58 and Brooks 73
Booker 53 and CP3 59 - 112 and Ayton 67 and Bridges/Durant 64

Jokic/Murray/MPJ/Gordon all over 62 games each

and the healthiest team in the NBA, all guys playing 15+mpg:
Sabonis 79
Fox 73
Barnes 82
Murray 80
Huerter 75
Monk 77
Mitchell 80
Lyles 74

must be nice when your top 8 guys all miss less than 9 games.

the standing are easy to understand when you look at this.

He's not a good offensive coach but he is a really good defensive coach. We just had the 6th best defense in the league while starting CJ and Jonas. Thats impressive

Uncle Al got this team 1 winning season in 5 years. Willie is definitely ahead of the curb.
