I may have missed this somehow, though I think I've read every thread. I know he's getting a lot of flack at the moment, and his game last night asks for some of it, but CJ really is the only leader on this team at this moment. Zion really needs to take CJ's words to heart and start acting like a professional. If he showed half the heart CJ did this year, we're a top 5 seed. so frustrating.

get it together, Z

I think he called out BI too.

CJ, BI and Zion played 10 games together this season. That's with CJ playing 75 games this season despite needing thumb surgery.

Do the math.

He did not call out BI. Please, stop putting him in the same conversation with Zion. Yes, BI was hurt but he came back in time to save our season as well as carry the team on his back to get us into the play in. He also lead us into the playoffs last year too.

Where was Zion for those runs?!?

Save our season?

We lost in the play-in game last night and a big reason we were even in that position is because BI missed 30+ games.

Yeah, he’s been through a playoff series with Brandon and the stretch run both years. That comment was definitely more about Zion…a guy available 25% of the time since he was drafted.

Zion not playing aside, the problem with Pels all season has been 3rd qtr, they lost so many games with poor 3rd qtrs all season, and it showed up again last night

I know they had just lost, and he's obviously down about the season being over, but that sounded like he was irritated and talking directly to Zion. And i got no problem with that. I would hope that he's already said this to his face, several times, and the message still hasn't hit, so he's just going to blast him in the media.

I think that's sort of what we are seeing unfold. The team and the players are not happy about what Zion did. Zion is getting exposed, and it's not a good look for him, obviously.

CJ has called him out twice now since he got here. I know y'all want to blame the front office and the medical staff but at the end of the day, it's Zion that's the issue.

CJ is so articulate, that’s about the nicest way he could have put it to “call him out”. Thats 100% directed at Zion

It can be both but more 1 party.

The team's job is to get through to players sometimes and they haven't.

But Zion is obviously far more to blame.

Quite different from the Nance comments! Thanks to CJ for telling it like it is... Zion has been a "prima donna" for 3 years now. I question how much of a mental problem he has, since the evidence shows it does not seem to be a physical problem! Why did he go off to Portland for so long??? Does Zion really want to place basketball. Truly looking like a true "head case" to me!

I think it's more of a shot to the front office from holding Zion back

"Availability is important, man. We've got to be available," McCollum said. "We've got to do what we need to do off the court in terms of preparation, in terms of getting treatment, in terms of getting the right sleep, the right type of hydration, having the right type of diet.

"Everything has to matter to us for everybody, one through 15. ... If we don't do that, I'll never have a real answer for you as to what we can accomplish because we won't be able to see it."

I dunno man, seems very direct

Coincidentally OKC is the best 3rd quarter team in the league, at +2.4, by a pretty wide margin to. The second team was Boston at +1.5. We were 20th at -0.5.

Maybe one or both. However, what good does it do to say it to the media? He shares a locker room with them. That is where a leader calls out the player, not the media.

What's funny is that we had the same issues with Monty as coach. Willie is almost a carbon copy, even down to the stoic mannerisms on the sideline and questionable rotations.

Because Zion isn't in the Locker Room with them so this was the best way to get the message across since he doesn't show up at the the SKC or the practice facility.

Did Zion call out CJ earlier when he spoke about playing hurt to the detriment of the team?

given how fricking stupid he is and/or how stupid the people around him are, he may have. He just didn't realize how stupid that would be.

No one will ever criticize a guy for trying to suck it up and help his team win when he's hurt. If anything it makes that person more loved, even when they fail.
