Just came in from the shop and the wife had this on. Shocked this is still on TV. Reminded me of being a kid and Danny Tanner giving us some laughs.

Now Carlton Banks is hosting. Sort of cheesy but good memories. There’s a live audience and everything.

Got to be the longest running show. I told her to pause it, going to wash up in the sink, then watch it.

Kind of weird that life became like one giant americas funniest home videos episode the way things turned out.

Imagine telling people in 1995 that in the future everyone would be on TV but the only thing on would be AFV, CNN, porn, and COPS.

AFHV premiered in November of 1989

The Simpsons premiered in December of 1989.

I’d have lost that bet.

The Simpsons were on The Tracey Ullman Show earlier as a feature of the show.

It’s easy money for ABC. Outside of Carlton, the cost of production is virtually nothing. The viewers provide all of the content free of charge. And with everyone now having a video camera in their pocket there is no end to the content available

Meet the Press is about 75 yo.
Some of those soaps like General Hospital are 60ish.

I'm sure she appreciates that.

Very romantic.

AFV is great. My kids (all teens now) grew up watching.
Oldest TV series is Meet the Press. Started in 1947.
Wiki says most episodes all time goes to ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNews' Sports Center with over 60,000 episodes since 1979.

It's always been a good show. They do a good job of keeping it on point and have some legit funny shite on it that somehow seems better than just watching random fail videos on YT.

I think they have an app now so people just upload the stuff directly. It might have changed post-pandemic, but keep an eye on the crowd too - I've read that, given the location of the studio - they often just get co-eds from Pepperdine and LMU...
