Neanderthals and humans interbred 47000 years ago for nearly 7,000 years research suggests

The interbreeding was already known. The contribution of this study is in narrowing down the time period.

More than a decade ago, scientists revealed that Neanderthals interbred with the ancestors of modern humans who migrated out of Africa. Today, the genomes of modern human populations outside Africa contain about 1% to 2% of Neanderthal DNA.

I’m taking more than 500,000 years when it comes to humans walking around on Earth. This planet is billions of years old and because of that I don’t buy for a second that humans/Neanderthals have only been around half a million years.
