Killing a Snake Law

I got into a rabbit hole on laws killing snakes. My question is in Louisiana, if you are on your private property & you own chickens for instance, & you have a nuisance snake killing your chickens, do you need a license to kill it? I know, shoot, shovel & shut up. But I was just curious the legality of it. I know people my whole life that have killed snakes on their property with no fishing license, were they technically breaking the law? They could claim fear for life or nuisance I suppose.
Law states:
All persons engaged in the collection of native reptiles and amphibians for noncommercial purposes must possess one of the following licenses: (1) A resident must possess a basic recreational fishing license. (2) A nonresident must possess a basic nonresident fishing license.

Collection is considered taking for meat. It’s more meant for frogs and turtles although some people do eat snakes.
If you kill a snake on your property and dispose of it you are fine.
Edit: Other than a Louisiana Pine Snake. I doubt you would ever see one, but that’s probably the only snake that could actually get you in trouble for killing on your property.

Doesn't matter what it is, if it's attacking your livestock, you can kill it.
Well, maybe not a bear, but pretty much anything else. Nobody will bat an eye at a chicken snake.

Gotta hang the dead snake up where the live ones can see what will happen when the FAFO....
If I am on the capital steps in Baton Rouge and snake comes along and surprises me im probably gonna kill it. If I see it and know its there not so much but if it surprises me its probably gonna die....

Now that my kids are adults, I generally just shoo them away unless they are venomous (rare for me at my house now) and my wife has not seen it.
If the wife sees it, it's dead

Sorry, but that's a bad example - everyone knows the snakes are inside the capital....

So you should make it go back inside?

Kill all snakes. Leave em where they lay.

Bury if anywhere near the house. Rotting snake is one of the most rancid smells of all dead animal smells.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s illegal to bend over, pick them up, and move them.
