We have had 3 bats in house in last 10 days. Have a 6 month old and wife is freaked out. Whole family got rabies shots today and company is coming tomorrow to seal up house. Yes it has been expensive. Bats are living next door at neighbors (hopefully they will do something). In old Baton Rouge area so they could be living in other places but bat control guy says our house is clean and we must be getting strays.

Your thoughts? Advice? Thank you.

Ive had bats in my house on 3 separate occasions, all 3 about a year apart. I had a louvered vent in my attic that wasn’t sealed off that I suspected them coming in. From there they somehow made it into the living space (they can squeeze through some tight areas). I covered the vent with some hardware cloth and no issues since.

My thoughts are this.....

I don't blame your wife for being freaked out.

I think y'all were wise to get rabies shots.

Some years ago, I read about a young child who while sleeping being bitten by a rabid bat. The bat apparently came in through a partially opened window. Apparently no one knew it was a bat bite as no rabies shot was given. The story ended very badly for the poor child.

Bats scare me and I don't normally scare easily.

Yes they can. They eat bugs. See about ridding your yard of bugs…or as much as you can. The dangerous part of bats is that they multiply unbelievably quickly. May want to choose your plan sooner than later.

You can YouTube, they use a dark cloth, the cloth lets in light, the cloth is draped over the area they get out. Once out, the cloth covers the entrance. They also have a one way plastic tube.

This is one like I found.

It's all cool until The Joker and The Penguin show up. Then you have problems.

Go through all vents made sure there no holes in metal mesh and gables, really all soffit, they will come in about a 1-2” hole. Used to get em bad in cabins on west coast.
