We are seeing how this gets swept away. The investigation is compartmentalized. The FBI is investigating the shooter, SS is investigating their actions, etc. and none of them are working together to paint a comprehensive picture of what happened. I’m not making any accusations, but seems to me that this would be exactly the way to cover up a planned attempt of one existed. Keep information siloed and report only one silo a time to the public. Much easier to control the information that way and tell the story you want to tell.
