Daniel Craig Bond Era - was QoS rightfully ridiculed?

Without a doubt it is the weakest of all of the DC Bond films, so no argument there. I recently watched them over the past few weeks and when i watched QoS, I didn't hate it. I thought the storyline was fine, but the acting and execution of it was underwhelming. Was it because the writing was that bad? Was it poor casting (referring to supporting cast)? Combo of both? I hated what they did to Felix's character. Made him he come off like such a bitch.
I didn't mind the character of Greene, but I thought the actor was kinda creepy and not in a way that enhanced the character. I think his creepiness distracted from appreciating the character development.
All in all I still enjoyed all of the DC Bonds. My personal ranks as follows:
1. Casino Royale
2. Spectre
3. Skyfall
4. No Time to Die
5. Quantum of Solace
I think the biggest factor in the top 4 is the casting of the Antagonist:
Casino Royale - Mads Mikkelson (bonus: Eva Green)
Spectre - Christolph Waltz
Skyfall - Javier Bardem
No Time to Die - Rami Malek (bonus: Ana de Armas)
Quantum of Solace - Mathieu Amalric......

It's rightfully at the bottom of the Craig films.
It's not terrible.

Are you high? Spectre was atrocious and I’d say worse than QoS. It’s like they literally remade Austin Power’s Goldmember and somehow made Blofeld even more petty and ridiculous than Dr Evil.
“Do you remember when you were making a ham sandwich and you couldn’t find the mayonnaise? It was me, James! Remember when you were late for work and were delayed by traffic for 20 minutes? It was MEEEEE, James!!! The author of all your pain!”

Specter was a parody, right?

I usually watch Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace together. These two are better stories than the other Craig films.

IIRC they made this in the middle of the writers (or whoever) strike that was going on ant the time and basically threw it together on their own.

Looks like I’m in the minority of liking Spectre. I could probably flip flop Spectre and Skyfall on any given day, but Christoph Waltz is why I rank Spectre above.

Action scenes in this “motion picture” look like a slideshow where someone is just spamming the next page button.

The era started out fine then halfway through Spectre decided to jump off a cliff.

I like QoS. I always watch it right after watching Casino Royale. They run seamlessly together.
QoS has the best DC Bond girl behind Vesper in Camille. Her revenge arc complements Bond’s perfectly. Her motivation is clearly defined and the payoff with her is earned. She doesn’t fall for Bond’s charms and holds her own without having to one up him or emasculate him like we saw in NTTD.
The final scene with the hotel exploding around them is gangbusters. It’s fast paced with strong visuals and tension.
I get why people don’t like Almaric’s Green, but what he’s trying to do is far more frightening than steal money from a shady organization (La Chiffre), take revenge on M (Silva), fulfill a convoluted murder troll (Blofeld), or release a deadly disease (Safin). Controlling the world’s water supply can inflict far more suffering than anything the others were trying to do. He’s not meant to be physically imposing nor super smart. He’s just the administrative face of a secret organization who gets caught up with a 00 who’s on a violent rampage to avenge his lost love.
It’s underrated IMO and could have been much better had it not been a victim of a writer’s strike.
My ranking:
1- CR/QoS (they’re both much better when viewed as two halves of the same movie)
2- No Time to Die
3- Spectre
4- Skyfall
Bond’s death and the new 007 aside, I liked NTTD. Each decision each character makes drives the plot to the inevitable conclusion that the only way Bond can save the world and his daughter is to die. It’s a heroic sacrifice that flips the ending of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service while giving homage to it. I’m not wild about Bond not being able to cheat death, but the ending made sense within the plot’s narrative.
The Mexico City opening in Spectre is one of the best opening sequences in any Bond film ever. The first 15 minutes of Spectre are far better and more original than anything Mendes filmed for the entire run time of Skyfall. Spectre feels more like a classic Bond film than any of the other five. And that’s what I like about it. Blofeld’s motivations are weak and the film works too hard to retcon QoS, but I enjoyed it much more than…
Skyfall is the most overrated Bond film ever. Its plot is a non-sensical, plagiarized mess that borrows from Mission: Impossible, GoldenEye, and Home fricking Alone. The cinematography rips off Inception so bad because Mendes wanted to make a Nolan film, not a Bond film. Its plot has more armor than a medieval knight. It just doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. It’s bad. Even for a Bond movie. The main Bond girl turns out to be: Moneypenny? Really? If I had an urge to watch Skyfall, I’d just put on Inception and enjoy myself much more.
Downvote away. It’s one of those movies everyone loves that I think just sucks.

Kinda mad the Bond died in No Time To Die. I don't want another reboot or see another Bond origin story.

I believe the thread was titled 'Quantum of Suckass.'
If that helps.

I like QOS too, the edit in my post was switching it and Spectre but I chose Spectre because it’s a little more old school Bond, at least the first half anyway. I do like the story and characters in QOS more though.

If anything, it deserved more ridicule. That movie is still painfully hard to watch.

Casino Royale was a fantastic Bond film and ranks in my Top 3 of the franchise. However, the turn the franchise took immediately after Casino Royale absolutely killed the goodwill the first film built up with fans. Craig was a solid Bond whose tenure was wrought with piss poor writing that tried to make the man more relatable - which is the opposite most hard core fans of the character want from James Bond.
The vast majority of Bond fans desire the following from the franchise:
1. Beautiful locales
2. Beautiful women
3. Eccentric villains
4. Bond saving the world and getting the girl
It doesn't need to be high brow cinema with a complicated plot and nuanced characters. I just want action, love-making, and witty one-liners when Bond kills someone.

Really can't argue with your post, although I like Skyfall despite its contrivances and conveniences.

I enjoyed Eva Green in Casino Royale because she makes Vesper an interesting character. But I must be alone in thinking she's not particularly attractive. She's not nearly as pretty as Olga Kurylenko from QoS.
