Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis

Any OTers ever deal with this? I’ve had this in my right shoulder recently. Seemed to happen overnight for no real reason. I have a stainless rod in that same shoulder so I’m wondering if that old injury may have contributed. If you’ve had this previously any recommendations to help get full movement back?

getting through that right now, I had a rotator cuff tear and significant scar tissue and bone spurs so I had the surgery

because of my age I tried PT first, doc knew it wouldn't work and he said after post surgery rehab and healing I can expect no more pain and 95% of mobility returned

I don’t know much but I’m pretty sure it did…
Go see an ortho and get referred to a PT.

I wonder if it's a crossbow arrow, those things don't make much noise

Got to ortho and get a subacromial corticosteroid steroid injection. Physical therapy for 6-8 weeks with focus on stretching and increasing ROM, no strengthening. If still not better, manipulation under anesthesia by ortho surgeon followed by PT.

I thought it was a rotator cuff issue at first. Doc diagnosed it almost immediately. They have me on Corticosteroid pills which helped a lot. Thankfully the pain is mostly gone but it’s still locked up pretty good. The pain was next level for a few months when making certain movements.

I did.
Uncomfortable.
PT for a few weeks and you are done.
Mine was nondominant side.

I have rotator cuff tendinitis (no tear on imaging). Ice after using it, rest, PT have helped significantly. If it flares up again, the ortho will be giving a cortisone shot more than likely.

according to my doc and PT, that's temporary relief, doc also said it could go away by itself with no action taken but recommended PT, they can also put you under and manipulate it to "thaw" it out

I am dealing with it now. Did PT for 8 weeks, then did Manipulation under anesthesia but still not nearly at full movement capability. It hurts a lot and I have tried everything. It has been an issue for a year. Tried acupuncture, PT, chiropractor, and nothing has really cured it. Sucks big time. Luckily I still can play golf.

My husband did. Therapy for two or so months and then just home exercises. PT told him it often lasts for 9months to a year. Right at 10 or so months it started loosening up and now he’s fine.

I've had it. PT and a fairly long rehabilitation time is required. I could not rotate my arm into a jacket or take it off easily. But in time it went away. Had plantar fasciitis also. Similar actually.

As a PT it can definitely help but it will suck. The only thing PT can do is strengthen it and stretch the hell out of it which does not feel great. It is a slow and steady process but it can be treated without surgery. Also, go to a PT that does dry needling and Graston techniques. That can help loosen up the muscle more quickly. Good luck my friend.

I was fortunate.
Got to ortho and received a subacromial corticosteroid steroid injection.
Immediate relief. Home PT.
Back to normal.
Wish I had gone to ortho months earlier, would have saved a lot of pain.

Hard to sleep on affected shoulder at night.

Yes - PT at the office & a series shoulder exercises to do daily at home. Patience is required - it corrects itself over time, months in my case if recall correctly.
