Should this be the pick at 9? Warren will give the team that selects him 10 years of high level play.

It’s really too early in the process.

Besides QBs, I think the only players we are pretty sure to go in the top 10 are Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Mason Graham, Tetairoa McMillan, Will Johnson, Will Campbell and maybe James Pearce Jr.

Don’t see Will Campbell being a major contributor as a top ten pick.

Deep TE draft so makes it harder to take a TE in round 1.

I would say he is an option depending on how things play out.

First he would have to run a 4.5 for me so that i could then count on him to be my big WR guy in certain sets b/c this team is lacking one.

At 9, Grahmn, Walker, Johnson and McMillan(if he runs well) would have to be gone.

I would still rather trade back to get more picks and if he was there around 15 i would feel better about that pick.

They are dying for playmakers anywhere. So he’s definitely in play

would he be the highest graded player on their board if available?

Saints need help on both lines and skill positions so it's hard to say.

He isn't as good as Brock Bowers though.

Brock Bowers went #12 to the Raiders.

just for reference.

You don’t take a te in the top ten unless his name ends with Bowers.

Much more important positions needed.

TE is a luxury pick

We don't have a
QB
Longterm RB
No.1 WR
OL has holes
DL has holes
Best LB is almost 40
Safety

At 9 if TE is the best pick trade back

No such thing as a luxury pick when you need help at every position. You’re going to get bit in the arse if you position chase. Take the BPA when you’re up regardless of position. It’s going to take you multiple seasons to even somewhat address all the holes on this roster. No reason to pick and choose.

No don't trade back. We have 4 to 5 picks in the top 120. Grab BPA. frick need. We need players at every position. If he's there grab him if other top players are off the board.

This is how you talk yourself into settling for a good player vs having the best in the class at the position.

Same argument about Janety, Deep RB class so lets get a decent complementary RB in the 4th round vs getting the best in the class and likely generational talent.

Maybe, Saints can gut roster. They have about 20 to 30 mil in cap space fill some of those needs. I say trade back because you can find a starter in 20s. They need some much.

But if Mason Graham or Tetairoa McMillan or Abdul Carter or James Pearce Jr. are best in class at a more highly impactful position or more needed position or are more highly ranked overall, you take them over a position where there is more depth.

I think BPA is weightiest factor, but you do have to give some consideration to importance of position, need and depth of prospects in the class. Rank them something like BPA (75%) position (15%) need (5%) depth of draft prospects at position (5%).

What’s his separation ability like? I feel like the NFL is really starting to deemphasize the ultra tall contested catch guy for the more explosive after the catch guy and I’ve seen him labeled as such in some of the things I’m reading.

If he keeps getting knocked for stuff like this then I’d almost rather the elite TE prospect long term. I don’t mind a contested catch guy. I just don’t think I’d want to spend a high first on one.

Those are the passes above average DBs will punch out of your hands or bat down if you get no separation.

I want Tyler Warren as much as wanted Brock Bowers, but you have to consider. An elite prospect at DE/DT carry more weight than an elite TE.

If a guy like Carter or Graham falls, you have to take him moreso than Warren.

Now the scary question - with 8 picks and say 2 QBs (Ward, Sanders), 2 CBs (Hunter, Johnson), DT (Graham), and 3 DE/LB (Carter, Williams, and Walker) taken...who do you take? I mean obvious is trade back, but takes 2 to tango.

WR - McMillan
OTs - Campbell, Banks
RB - Jeanty
TE - Warren

or do you reach for a guy like Pearce, Green, or Nolan?

I think I’d take Warren over McMillan for sure. I’d probably take the o linemen as well. I’d probably even take the RB over McMillan and really focus on creating a power running game while we’d have the two headed beast. I think he’s more of a lock to be a great player in the NFL than the ultra tall contested catch guy if he grades out as such.

We just need as many great to elite players as we can get as we arguably have none outside of Kamara and maybe McCoy. Bresee could maybe get there. For that reason I absolutely would not reach For a “need”
