On3 is very appealing. They are probably the “swaggiest” recruiting service while everyone else stayed in the stone ages.

Seems like a strange move for On3. Rivals has been a dead site for years, it went the way of Scout.

i can't believe the long running grift that Shannon Terry continues to pull.

-In 2000 he founded Rivals and it was the hot product on all things CFB recruiting and message boards. Rivals later sold to yahoo for millions
-In 2010 he founded 247 which was a major direct competitor to rivals. 247 was now the new go-to for recruiting rankings. 247 later sold to CBS for millions.
-In 2021 he founded on3 to be a direct competitor to 247. On3 was now the hip new go-to for recruiting rankings.

I SWEAR that in about 5 years from now on3 is going to be ancient news and some hot new recruiting service will be all the rage. Founded by the same guy of course..

If college football doesn't get a handle on the "portal" then these recruiting sites will go by the wayside.

I feel like the 35-45 year old generation the group that really "grew up" with mainstream recruiting coverage and put these websites in business.

That age group is still the foundation of the client base, and as a member of that age group and consumer of recruiting sites since I was 13 or 14 years old, I know it's just a lot harder to even care/follow recruiting closely now.

That's not to be confused with minimizing the importance of recruiting, it's still the lifeblood of the sport, but the portal has really put a damper on it

247 gives you Paramount+ for free. Not a bad deal. Lucky for me the best Auburn site is on 247.

looks like they're gonna position Rivals as the main recruiting function while On3 focuses on the actual sports side.

Yeah. Who hardly cares about the high school rankings anymore. Now it’s all about the portal rankings (though I realize these sites also cover that).

Is it On-3 or One with the 3 being a backwards E?

Same demographic, but I think its more NIL than the portal. Dropping a bag in a kid's lap a few days before signing day and all the time and resources spend recruiting a kid go out the window.

There's almost always a time limitation legally. So he just waits till it's over and starts a new one.

Where he really shines is that he doesn't need to always steal talent from his old sights and knows how to develop new talent

On-3

Think of how you break a huddle

But the big time programs are still going to want the best freshmen… but instead of signing 25 who may or may not eventually contribute, they might sign 5 who can contribute sooner
