The people doing the hiring can't afford to hire an unproven coach and then that coach flops. If they hire someone with proven success in the SEC then they have more cover by saying they hired the most qualified guy for the job.

He never said a word about it, or even acknowledged it, until the day before the announcement. And then only when asked and you could tell he didn’t want to talk about it.
How is that drama queen? People are taking message board chatter and somehow extrapolating that to Kiffin.
He’s been silent.
