Ole Miss agreement with Chambliss should not be legal

You shouldn't be able to agree on a contract pending a condition that officially does not exist.
It's basically propaganda that will lure other recruits, that LSU is competing for, into signing with Ole Miss. By the time they realize its a farse, and he won't have his eligibility, it will be too late.
So, basically, it's misrepresenting things to other recruits.
Edit: jesus we are talking about college football here. Im not talking about against the law illegal. I mean against NCAA recruiting rules.

Two parties can't agree to terms prior to contract execution?
That's absurd.

You don’t think he (his agent) has had the same conversation with LSU?
Enough with the drama.

This is some cope. That said, it would not shock me at all if Ole Miss knows this waiver is going to get denied and they did do this alongside Chambliss understanding to help Ole Miss out. That's definitely reasonable. This all feels fishy to me especially yesterday until LSU lost out on Sorsby and then put Leavitt on their campus while saying he's very likely getting denied through media.
So either they played media or they just doing this knowing full well he's not coming back next year. Their moves in the portal will tell you. How many QBs do they have lined up?

Ole Miss offense is not going to be the same next year regardless of what Chambliss or Lacy do.

This isn't specifically about Chambliss and Ole Miss.
This is about the misrepresentation to other recruits in a timed portal event. Meaning, by the time it shakes out, they won't have the ability to back out of their commitments.

This is nothing new. Welcome to the world Obama built. It’s nothing new around here, if you follow WBB and all the crap that pops up during recruiting season.

Blaming LSUs lack of (portal) recruits on the QB of ole miss possibly staying at ole miss if he is granted another year of eligibility is pretty lame. Let it play out.
If OM keeps winning and makes it to the ship or wins it ; it’s certainly a terrible (embarrassing?) look for Kiffin, but it doesn’t make any difference to me as an LSU fan. If LSUs plan was to rely on players transferring in from a possible championship team there was an obvious risk from the beginning so fingers crossed there is a back up plan.

I don't think anyone is committing to OM because Chambliss *might* get his waiver approved.

They aren't announcing a formalized final agreement.
They are announcing an agreement in principle. To the degree that it impacts other decisions, that's on those parties. It might be different if they guaranteed Chambliss was returning. Of course, the release said the opposite..it said "assuming he is granted a waiver".
Are you sure you aren't just being emotional about him deciding to return to Ole Miss over LSU?

just let it go. We can act low like OM fans, that is not a level you want to be at, focus on now and trust your coach will put everything together, it might not be glorious, but it will be good enough.

Contracts subject to conditions can definitely be legal. They are entered into all the time in the business world.

My dude I hate to break it to you, but this happens all the time. This is how insurance works lol.

I’m not a lawyer but even I know about contingency clauses or provisions.
Regardless, recruiting is a dirty business. This is nothing new.
