Yes, I have another thread I started about finding the best zero turn lawnmower. I zeroed in in a Bad boy Elite 54” mostly because there is a dealership right down the road from me. As I tested it out I found it difficult to change the cut depth as you mow. You have to stop and press pedal and then change the dial on the console. The deck was heavy to raise. As I get older I’m thinking this is going to get more difficult to do. I have a Yazoo Kees 54” where you just press the foot pedal to raise and lower the deck. Very easy to do. Are there any zero turn mowers out there that you can just press the foot pedal to raise and lower the cutting deck?

As in a hydraulic deck lift?

I've seen that on some big commercial mowers. I used to mow with a big john deere diesel that had that feature.

I believe Ferris offers it on some of their more normal sized stuff.

Not sure what you mean as the foot pedal is the same. Only difference in the BB is the dial that sets the height. Most of them just use a pin, so in theory the dial should be easier to use. Foot pedal/weight is applied the same way.

Often there is a spring or linkage adjustment that can make it easier to raise or lower the deck. The spring can apply more tension or linkage adjusted to get more leverage (but require a longer throw).

As mentioned, there are some with electric or hydraulic lifts but they are not common.

I've got a Gravely and it has the heavy foot lever and big dial to set the hight. Just passing it along to rule that out for you.

It's never been an issue, mine stays mostly the same cut height unless I'm parking it or going over a transition from back yard to front.

Move around lots of trees and roots protruding from the ground so a constant adjustment of the deck would be a pain.

Just run over all of it. A few blades and maybe a few spindles will be a hell of a lot cheaper than a powered lift deck mower. They are $25k+ machines. You can tear up a lot of decks on a residential $5k mower for that much money. The top of the line ferris with that feature has an MSRP of $40k

The John deere I used had a power lift deck and it was either up or down, no in between. You could pop the lever in and out to kinda float the deck a little but it was not how it is meant to be used. Its just there because the deck is so damn heavy. I dont think thats the solution to your problem. Shave all them roots down before you get old and then just keep on running over them with a regular mower.

The same thing goes for our Spartan, it can be a chore to keep the foot lever pressed down and the dial for the height works when it wants to. Other than those two complaints it’s been a good machine.

You do not need to stop to change the deck height. Press the foot pedal at any time and the deck will raise. Set the dial at whatever height you want before you let go. You are not going to find an easier system than theis unless paying $30k+.

Kubota. Can’t go wrong with it. Bought mine in 2013 and sold it to the buyer of my home in 2022. It’s still going strong. 60” and cutting 2.5 acres.

Can someone teach me how to drive mine? I have a 42” Toro (I live in a subdivision) and whenever I try to make a sharp turn, I tear up my grass there.

Front yard is a mix of centipede and Bermuda. Back yard is Bermuda. I cut as low as it will go (1-1/2”).

How do I turn around and not tear up my grass?

Check Youtubby for segments on zero-turn 3 point turns to keep from tearing up the lawn.
