What was the logic behind the entire OLine going to the portal?

From the players perspective. I understand they were bad last year. i understand the OC and HC that recruited them, and WIlson, all left. But, considering the 2 OL we picked up, and the guys we are targeting who have experience at JUCO or very small division 2 schools, if you are one of the previous OL we had, why transfer out to a lesser school than LSU, especially since you have a high chance of being a returning starter under a competent coach?
Did all of their NIL deals get cancelled?
Is it ego? They were told they have to prove themselves again and the job is wide open now. Were they too proud to have to earn it? This could be this issue for some, but the entire Oline?
It's just puzzling. Same with the lack of Oline commits. I know the mantra is "don't panic, we're getting all of Ole Miss' players" but that isn't reality.

Brad Davis was very well liked even if his coaching wasn't up to par. That played a big role in this I reckon

They are probably tied to their coach more than LSU and probably a decent chance Brad told them to go elsewhere since he was let go.

Prob because they were part of one of the worst O-lines of all time. I’d prob wanna separate myself from any part of that too

Every single one of them has been trash at LSU... and you can enter the portal and stay at your school if the two parties can agree.

they have inflated values due to being highly ranked in HS but on field pay obviously did not justify it. I think LSU offered some to stay but for reduced money, obviously they didn't like that

I think a lot of it was losing Brad Davis. Regardless of what kind of developer he was, his relationship with them mattered to them.
I'd say part of it was the season left a bad taste in their mouth and they wanted a change.
I don't know what CLK or Galsscock said to them as far as NIL reductions or expected role and playing time.
We did work to retain Weston Davis.
If I had a role in the room (obviously unqualified), I would've worked to retain the following guys:
Moore (don't know what he's doing), Curne, Echols, Adams, Thomas, Miller, Ory

I am sure some of the LSU guys that left had talent. That said, this year’s line did not appear well coached, conditioned or very athletic as a unit.
Watching some of these playoff games and seeing lines like Miami’s just reinforces that the LSU line did not appear very athletic.

You first have to understand that Brad Davis could not coach or develop. That's number 1.
Second you have to recognize that some of these kids he brought in were highly thought after and have talent.
But third and finally you have to accept that these kids developed such ad habits and technique from Davis that they are almost all have to be "Reprogrammed."
It was time to cut the fat and go after guy who have been scouted to have been coached properly.

OM line blocked pretty well against Miami’s vaulted DL last night. Patch work OL that probably weren’t very highly rated. I trust Kiffins decision on offense. Probably cut their money until they prove themselves and they decided to test the waters. They liked their coach bc there was no consequences for poor play. Everybody gets a trophy. We will be fine on OL.

If your O line play sucked, it stands to reason that you would want to recruit different players to fill that position. Hence an exodus of the old to bring in the new. The present O line talent was judge overpaid and lacking in the ability to be successful.

There were a few with high ceilings that I wish we would’ve kept but they probably were going to adjust their NIL deals based on performance. These players now don’t want to sit and be developed while battling to start. Then you have leverage to get a bigger NIL deal.

I agree some were ranked pretty high coming out of HS and clearly had their development stunted and may just need change of scenery and/or better coaching. I would have liked to see us hang on to Lee and Ory has some potential but at the same time, I have no issues hitting reset on one of if not the worst offensive lines I have seen in my time. Forget stars give me some Dawgs and some workhorses that want to be here and prove themselves and let these coaches scheme around their strengths.

It's been said that Kiffin, Glasscock, Weis and other coaches on the offensive side set NIL values for the offensive players. Many of the offensive linemen were going to have to come back at a number much less than what BK was paying them.
That, Lane didn't want certain ones and there's also always player turnover when changing coaches.
I don't believe each player on the line was as bad as they played last year, but if there's one group I wasn't worried about a mass exodus from, it was the offensive line. Just my opinion.

Davis and Moore are both staying. Thompson entered the draft. The only real head scratcher is Adams because he actually played well. Curne a bit too because he was going to start. But Mubenga, Chester, Williams, Lee, etc. none were going to start.

This group as a whole, underperformed last year and there is no reason for it. They are highly paid professionals now and underperforming is not acceptable.
I don’t know what transpired, but when things get shitty at work, everyone thinks about quitting. Things were unquestionably shitty at work for these guys…and it was not going to end for at least another year.
