With Indiana’s historic run, how long does everyone think Cignetti will be IU’s coach?

Cignetti has done an amazing job. Do you think he’ll be a lifer at Indiana, or will other college programs…or even the NFL…try to lure him away with big money?

Seems like the kind of guy that would rather stay at Indiana and stick it to all the schools that passed him over.

IU has as much money in the alumni base as anyone which is what matters now.
NFL could be interesting, but he seems to have the formula for the portal and NIL era.

8yr 100 mil extension if they win.

He's 64, just got an 8 year extension that'll net him $11.6 million a year, and has a billionaire happy to fund Indy's NIL. The odds of him leaving are extremely low.

He's 64 years old. This will be his last job.

How do you know this? Just curious

They have the largest not sure about money but Cuban can pretty much fund it himself

He’s staying. Program history means nothing now. How much money does your program have backing it? And who is the HC? Indiana can buy themselves an elite program based on Cignetti’s success

I forgot about him

maybe a 5% chance he'd leave for Bama if stars aligned somehow, but I doubt it
ETA - didnt realize he was 64. Lowering odds to under 1%. Almost certainly retires at Indiana.

If they win the championship, and I think they will, why would he ever leave? He would be a Hoosier Legend for Life. He could sling folding chairs down the fifty yard line and get away with it.

Cuban and Mellencamp
Posted on 1/10/26 at 1:36 pm to Muahahaha
He’s not going anywhere else to start over.

As with all things only time will tell for sure but …..if I had to guess, at Cig’s age and with Indiana being the place to finally give him his shot at the biggest levels of CFB, he’ll stay loyal to IU and will have some streets named after him and statues built in Bloomington in these coming decades.
It’s a great story.

Ever heard of guy named mark cuban?
Posted on 1/10/26 at 2:00 pm to Muahahaha
There is zero chance he’s leaving. He’s about to dominate the big ten for the rest of his career.
