This team needs a big time pass rusher

This defense was lacking a stud pass rusher last year. We really needed some disruption from the line, but we mostly only got pressure from blitzing. Current transfer D Linemen:
Jordan Ross Tenn - 2 seasons, 1.5 sacks
Stephiylan Green Clem - 3 seasons, 3.5 sacks
Malik Blocton Aub - 2 season, 2 sacks
Jaylen Brown USCe - 1 season (at Mizzou), 0 sacks
Achilles Woods SoAL - 1 season, 1 sack
We signed some young guys, and it was needed for depth, but we really need a stud on the edge for Blake Baker's defense.

Production for pass rushers is really fickle. Kids make huge jumps all the time with a new scheme and coaching.

Sacks is an overrated stat to measure pass rush . Pressures is what makes a qb uncomfortable. We need more guys that’ll create pressure and make the qb nervous in the Pocket. I think Reliford when healthy can be that

one more proven guy would be great. However, our system is going to generate a lot of pressure. We have guys with the talent, just need to develop them and put them in a pressure heavy system.

Very true. Particularly for average players. Scheme can improve production.
But studs are going to find a way to create havoc. We haven’t had a consistent stud on the DL in what feels like forever.

We've always had talent there, but getting the production out of them has been hard. I think our last elite pass rusher was Arden Key. Swinson was pretty good, but not necessarily someone that wrecked games.

Yes we do need an edge rusher. We do have more defensive minds on the staff now can always look at a LB on the edge too. But we need to sign an edge

K'Lavon Chaisson And BJ Ojulari were both after Key and were both elite

My OP isn't wrong. We don't have a dominate pass rusher returning. The people we have returning are unproven. I'd like LSU to sign someone that has proven success rushing the pasher, at least more than 4 sacks worth. I feel like Swinson was the last person that could get after the quarterback from the DLine. Perkins best sack year was his freshman year, when he was pretty much strictly rushing/spying the QB, but now he's gone. Who's going to step up out of our freshman/transfer signees?

I wouldn't put too into this, as the talent is there. Someone will rise IMHO.
