This city just feels like some soulless Toxic Social Media Tech Bro Dystopian city now. You are either a tech bro, Only Fans model, or homeless in the street. It was liberal 10 years ago and it was not like this, so hush up politards.

It became one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and wealthiest due to a massive influx of California and NY tech people aka libs.
An already liberal city got much wealthier and much more liberal

Money.
If something is cool and popular everyone wants to be a part and profit. Just the natural progression. More they change the more they stay the same.

I went last year in March and it was awesome
My dad lived there in the late 90s and it’s a lot nicer now than it was then, just a lot more expensive - but what isn’t

It’s because they never leave their swamp lot in Louisiana and just absorb whatever X says lol.

Lived in Austin as a kid, I remember Austin had all the libs and figs (how my Dad described in town) but I don't remember culcha then. Lots of poor Mexicans but little culcha and less in your face commies. It used to be old school let's smoke some weed complain about oil hippies.

Tech bros moved into these soulless high rises downtown, then got pissed at local music being played after 9PM. I guess they didn’t do their homework.
Unfortunately, money talks, so these folks got their way and the music stops early.

I can see you've never been and just regurgitate what you read.

I've seen the city change over 20 years. I would keep the city the way it was back then if I could, because it felt much smaller, more unique, less crazy (the bad kind of crazy). It used to be more of a live and let live attitude there. Not so much any more. The shine the city once had has worn off, but I still find it to be the best big city in TX. The diverse topography will always be there...you are minutes away from some incredibly gorgeous areas on the west side of town. And there are some really great things that are there today that weren't there 20 years ago.
The food scene has grown a ton. There was good food before, but it's off the charts now. People used to leave Austin to get good BBQ. That would be silly today, as good bbq restaurants are everywhere. There are lots of other good restaurants as well.
The comedy scene today is something to behold. 20 years ago, there was like 3 spots with Cap City Comedy, Esther's Follies, and the Velveeta room. Now, there are like 8-10 spots within walking distance downtown, and still more outside of downtown. Some of the biggest comedians have moved to Austin. It's really cool to see.
The music scene is still good...it doesn't feel as grass roots as it did back in the day, but lots of good acts to see and really good venues.
Once you venture outside of downtown, a lot of areas still feel like old Austin. IMO, it's still a worthy town worth a visit or to live.
