This change would be to disincentivize players opting out of/“shutting down” their seasons to preserve future eligibility.

This would have a massive effect on recruiting, transfer portal, and CFB as a whole.

Would also be nice to save a redshirt on a player forced into action due to team injuries early in the season.

Why don’t you just do away with the redshirt and give everyone 5 years eligibility.

9 seems excessive.

How about we regulate the pay and keep the current rules? Sounds like yet another money grab from the players.

If you do that then give everyone 5 years to play five. No appeals no exceptions. 9 games is like a Whole season

I would like it as a coach because now I have 9 games to see what you’re made of. Practice is one thing but having more evaluation from game play is another.

That is what this is trending towards.

It’ll likely end up being the resolution here.

5 to play 5. No waivers, no appeals, no redshirts, no gray areas.

This is how it should be. Would remove much of the controversy.

Once someone sues, the 5 yr limit will be changed to unlimited.

Am I understanding this right?

A kid can play nine games. Let’s suppose that at the nine game mark their team doesn’t look like they are playoff bound. That kid can “injure his back” and redshirt? Basically a free BS year?

The only way that happens is if you 100% go the NFL route. Player's union, salary cap, rookie (aka true freshman), wage scales, binding contracts meaning the kid can't play for another team if he's under contract.

The thing is, that doesn't stop the sponsorships.

Would rather they just don't count post season games in the current 4 limit.

ehh, I still think medical waivers should be a thing, but do away with the JUCO and other loopholes.

The waiver is built in. You get an extra year to actually play.

The NCAA set itself up for all the lawsuits by having so many appeals and waivers.

If you have a hard eligibility cap, there are no lawsuit grounds.

This makes no sense. They are playing almost a whole season. The four games is not broken. No change is needed. The calendar change is needed way more at this time!

I mean, if you played 9 games, you damn near played the whole season. I don't get it.

Need to also make it to where Bowl Games don’t count towards redshirt games
