Sounds like he's a tiger unless Miami circles back to him.

Why do I get the sense that Longstreet is not close to being ready to be a P4 starter? Wasn’t he a 5 star? One would think he would have learned a ton as the #2 in a Lincoln Riley offense.

Not a knock on the kid, and I understand not wanting to throw $3+Mil at a QB with zero experience. But doesn’t sound like he’s even asking for that.

I understand Miami being patient, they have the money and roster to compete for Championships now. Tennessee, on the other hand, passing on him is baffling.

Where does Miami even go if not Longstreet?

They have to be planning to “tamper” for a starting QB from somewhere else.

I’m a bit surprised there has been ZERO smoke about Devon Dampier since Whittingham left Utah.

Let me know if anyone has heard anything about him.

Not really.
They are in a win now mode as well. The HC's seat is warm.
They wanted a proven starter.
They also signed a 5 star plus QB this recruiting class. They would rather that be the future over Longstreet.

LSU was reportedly comfortable with him being the starting QB here if Leavitt went elsewhere. He doesn't fit the recent Miami QB pocket passer mold like Cam Ward and Beck. He would fit CLK's offense well. A year under Riley will help QBs.

His limited game film vs Missouri State was really good, IMO. He was like 9/9 passing and ran for maybe 40-50 yards on a few carries. He got the ball out quick, was accurate, and was elusive in space and the pocket.

Exactly. I would have bet money he would end up at Tennessee.

They are absolutely tampering. I have a strong feeling they were at least partially behind the whole Demond Williams fiasco.

I love it for LSU

I will be honest, I kinda don't get it from Longstreet's perspective in this era, but great work by Lane if he can do it.

Kind of nuts that we could end up with Leavitt, Clark and Longstreet. That would be one of the best QB rooms we've ever had

I don’t totally disagree here, but Tennessee simply doesn’t have a playoff roster right now. If they are in win now mode, Longstreet should be clearly better than their high school QB for 2026.

Unless Joey Aguilar is returning, which is doubtful, them passing on Longstreet makes no sense.

This would be such a coup if we were able to land him

He left USC solely bc he lost trust with the coaches. He supposedly said he did not leave for money, or playing time not earned. Add in he has La. roots, and was recruited by Lane before, and it starts to make some sense.

Surprised there hasn't been more A&M smoke with HF... as he was committed to Elko before flipping to USCw late

sounds great and dont get me wrong, I would be ecstatic. That said, I dont understand the logic by UT and Miami passing on him as well as Longstreet himself wanting to come here. I love competition but that does not seem to fit the MO of the modern college QB.

Maybe he’s interested more in developing into an NFL type QB and not being thrown to the wolves in a sub par situation. While collecting decent cash for a couple years and a possible big bag his last

Lane recruited him...family from Louisiana...but Lane/Weis is the big draw

They are looking for other options to start this year with experience.

But Faizon Brandon is the type of QB that you could see start as a true freshman. It is not a clearly better situation.
Longstreet is still an unknown as well.
