As much as I distrust the NYT and their reporting, the admin does not seem to be refuting the idea that one of the planes used to attack Venezuelan drug boats was painted/marked as a civilian aircraft.

Leaving aside the debate about how doing this would endanger legitimately civilian aircraft, my question is why would you do that in the first place?

Does anybody actually think that these boats would react differently, or be less vulnerable, if the planes were easily identifiable as US military?

They're boats, being attacked by airplanes. They are going to be blown to Hell either way.

What am I missing?

Do you think a drone flies low enough to necessarily be seen ?

Do you realize that a drone way up in the air can target the boat and relay it to one of those ships that were off the coast and then the ship fires the missile?

And narco terrorists disguise themselves as poor fishing peasants. So who gives a frick. I wouldn’t care if the Cajun navy was kicking fire bombs out the side of a helicopter they borrowed from the oil rig rotation.

And, as expected, the responses are already arguing a point I was not making.

I don't give a rip if the boats are marked as Mercy Ships. Not arguing the ethics, morals, or ANYTHING in this direction.

The question, and I will type this very slowly for you, is what advantage would there be in looking like a civilian airplane?

To answer your actual question, I do not see any benefit at all. To the contrary, Trump seems to have WANTED everyone to know that the US military was acting. It would be contrary to his aims, if the attacking vehicle were disguised as civilian.

Then why is the admin not saying this?

And what the hell does the size of a drone fleet have to do with the point?

Forget about it. Who cares? Just another shiny penny brought up by media to extend the narrative that goes back to 9/2/2025. Really?

You mind relaying an actual article, a set of reported facts perhaps? Something other than message board fodder and rumors.

Leaving aside the fact that this is just an unsubstantiated assertion made by a historically anti-Trump source, maybe it was to reduce the boat taking evasive actions? Or to prevent other boats from acting as scouts to alert smugglers of routes to avoid?

This post has a very cuck vibe to it. Trying too hard to find something to criticize. You’d have been better off just blowing your rape whistle.

the point is there is no reason to use an aircraft disguised as civilian for this when there are more than enough drones to complete this mission.

Right. What is more likely? We are using private citizen's civilian aircraft to bomb Venezuelan's or wetbacks who've never been in a plane can't tell the difference between a plane or drone, much less the owner of said aircraft.

Or, maybe don't repeat every rumor you hear on the internet. Sounds like fake news, aggie.

What does a civilian drone look like that would make you think this?

Military Drones

Civilian Drones

I can see where paint would be the ultimate surprise when it is carrying missiles.
