Here is a prime example CEO of bank blames the workers and says job cuts are on the way. Dig a little deeper into her 30 plus million dollar incentive laced yearly salary and most of it is based on company performance. Well how do you save money quickly and show increased company performance? Cutting the workforce and expecting more work from current employees. Not saying some companies aren't in need of a little trimming but just not liking the way these exec's are getting paid more to do it. LINK

The real killer are the golden parachutes they get. They’ll “trim the fat”, compromising long term goals and leaving the company exposed to when over performers check out after suddenly being expected to do the work of 2-3 for the same pay.

Then things begin to crumble. They get fired. And get paid 8 figures for their trouble.

Seeing this in the O&G industry with the recent layoffs. Hard for people to stay bought in when they get no incentive for working 2-3x harder, especially when they see the company hit record profits/production but no significant pay raises.

CEO's serve on each others board of directors. They band together and vote for each others compensation packages.

Good luck stopping that.

“We are a family” is the biggest lie in corporate culture. They will cut the working man.

Work from home = bare minimum at best. Has ruined the work force. Everybody thinks ‘doing their job’ is satisfactory enough for a promotion.

You want to be an executive making ‘too much money’ then go be one. Hint: you’re not going to get there at home in your pjs and a crusty face wanting to be rewarded for sending an email or two.

Be an executive then. Seems that's where the good money is.

This is not corporation thing it’s a human thing. We think “I got this” when you don’t. Fortunately, there many leaders who understand servant leadership, in which the leaders serve those they work with.

Just to confirm, are you suggesting good CEO’s spend unnecessarily on being overstaffed with under performers?

If O&G people are working 2-3x as hard now, why were they only putting in 30-50% effort in the first place? Because they certainly can’t do more than 100% effort.

I love how someone that makes $30 mil a year cuts costs and they are automatically a bad person. A CEO spending more money and hiring extra is not always a good decision for the company either.
