No person and no country is bad 100% of the time.

Population of Siberian tigers in China is growing following a concerted effort to save the endangered species, and the construction of a national park-based system which has provided a suitable habitat for tigers. China has four subspecies of tigers of the Siberian tiger, Indochinese tiger, Bengal tiger, and South China tiger, making it the country with the most tiger subspecies.

In March this year, China and Russia jointly established a research lab on Siberian tiger conservation at Northeast Forestry University in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The lab encompasses research areas such as wildlife ecology and management, Siberian tiger feeding and breeding, and wildlife genetics.

I wouldn't want to run into one on a wilderness hike.

It’s crazy that there are actually 500 pound cats running around in the woods of Russia

Well yeah, it’s bad for business if they go extinct… can’t crush up their bones and snort them for boner enhancement if there aren’t any left.

Read this book immediately if you find these tigers interesting. It's a true story about the hunt for a maneater near the border of Russia and China. Fascinating book. If you get the audiobook it's read by the author, which is also pretty cool.

Up to 700 lbs. and averaging 575 lbs. for adult males.

China made it legal to harvest and sell wild animals because their people were starving under communism.

It's a damn shame that God made such pretty kitties that we can't snuggle.

Bad for the environment too, because without tigers wolves move in and compete with hunters for game a lot more than tigers do.

Was also about to mention this book!

Probably the most beautiful animal on earth.

Pretty surprising considering that China has always been consistently ranked as one of the worst countries for animal conservation.

Wait until you hear about their wild boars.
Seriously, the wilds of Russia and Siberia are a few of the very few places on earth outside of North America that I'd actually love to see in person. Also Japan, New Zealand and North Australia. Romania is probably #1 though.
But I digress. Big cats are some of the most badass apex predators on earth, and it's awesome that the Chinese government would actually do something to protect them after hundreds of years of Chinese poaching them because old superstition says that powdered tiger teeth helps erectile dysfunction. I've actually seen a few cats in the wild personally. Plenty of bobcats, a mountain lion once and a black jaguar once. Cougars and jaguars, I can promise you, look one hell of a lot bigger when there's not reinforced glass between you and them.
