As expected, Spotify is increasing the prices of its premium, ad-free streaming plans in the U.S. over the next month, the company announced early Thursday. It’s the third price hike in four years for Spotify in the U.S.

Can you still get Amazon Music free with a prime membership ?

If you have prime already the Prime Music is a solid alternative.
I don't use spotify

For a dollar more you could get a YouTube Premium family membership which also comes with YouTube Music.

Radio makes me like life less, especially Delilah. The sound of her voice makes me want to move off the grid and build a yurt. How are FM DJs still a thing, and when will they run out of recent surveys to tell us about?

Spotify is still the best for me.
Prime music seemed like everything was a cover song. Not the original artist.
Try to listen to jimmy Buffett and it’s a new country bad cover.
Mariah Carey does home sweet home by motley crew.
Screw that.

I remember when streaming for cheap was going to kill piracy

I think streaming turned main stream music titles into the crappy alternative versions of songs that were available on music club records. Those music club records might have been a recording of the artist but it was remixed with a different band of musicians so as to not have to pay the full true cost of the music licensing. As such music club albums were marked and the artwork wasn’t as as good as the original. The record industry wasn’t happy with the music being sold at a loss, but they dealt with it because it brought “numbers” of copies they could claim.
Musicians are now paying dearly as royalty deals are crap with streaming.
In order to make a decent living in music you need millions of plays just to make a decent living.

I’d rather pull my teeth out one by one than listen to FM radio. Especially in the mornings. The hosts are insufferable and cringe

SiriusXM is $6 a month and has everything I need.

I was part of a wedding with Delilah a couple years ago on Bainbridge Island. even used her Tahoe to drive some people around and prepare for the wedding. had no idea who she was, and only found out later that she was famous. still have her cell number in my phone from that weekend

Almost all of the arts have been commoditized for a while. Video, photography, voiceover work, music, etc. Technology has helped lower the barrier to entry and the internet makes it easy to distribute.

The plan was to always to get people to accept all these subscriptions services as the new normal by starting them off at very cheap prices.
Then they just ramp up the price every year like the proverbially frog in a boiling pot of water.
They are guessing most people are too lazy or unaware to ever cancel.
Every single subscription service on the planet has done this, insane year over year price increases hot and heavy.
All the while they add absolutely nothing of value while the prices go up every year.
