Lane/Corey's reason for no portal CB?

I trust these two, but it makes me think that there was an agreement that Corey and Lane came to.
I envision Lane asking Corey, that when a guy in the top 15 CBs came up ( " Corey, this guy is good, you want him?" ), Corey said,
No, dont need him.
No, there are a couple safeties that can fill in.
No, he's too expensive for that position
No, I beleive in DJ, Woodland, etc, and the frosh are true Lousiana CBs that ive had no trouble developing.
I have trouble seeing that CBs didn't want to come here, so it must be that Corey said we are good.
Thoughts?

Definitely seems they didn’t think it was a position that we had to have someone, probably were willing to take 1 if everything aligned the way they wanted to. Evaluation plus NIL value

I also think Cooley plays more of a nickel CB role than true safety this year so hes an “addition”.

Only a couple of guys that were true CB’s in the portal could come in and play here, so I would say we were just being selective and those options just didn’t hit, so we’re good with rolling with who we got.

If they felt they needed one, they would have gotten one. They're obviously good rolling out what they have. Obviously if there was someone you couldn't pass up, they would've snagged them, i.e. Delane.

If Kiffin/Baker/Raymond thought we needed a CB or that those in the portal would be an upgrade, they’d have some in the class. They obviously are confident in the group they have.

Finney was a 5* and no. 1 rated CB before reclassifying from '27 to '26.

I thought we would pick up one elite CB in the portal but we do appear to have a very good secondary. Picket will be elite. Some of our safeties can probably play corner in a pinch.
