During Lane Kiffin's 6 years at Ole Miss, the Rebels collectively led the SEC in rushing. Take a wild guess at how many offensive linemen were drafted... 2!

My point is that Kiffin's offense is very schematically sound and OL friendly. This doesn't mean he doesn't want as much talent there as possible, but there's no reason to panic either. Kiffin and staff know exactly what they're looking for. The sky is the limit!!! I have no doubt that we'll be among the league leaders in rushing soon, back where LSU belongs. Football season can't get here soon enough!!!

Honk, this is why Lord Kiffin told the OM OL coach he can remain in Oxford.

He needed an upgrade.

not even close to true. Ole Miss only led the SEC in rushing 2x in 6 years under Kiffin. And both of those years, Ole Miss lost 5 games.

Ole Miss was never lower than 3rd in the SEC in rushing over his 6 seasons. They were 3rd twice and 1st every other year, including last year.

It’s particularly notable that they were 1st in the SEC in year one with a chaotic situation and a roster in transition before the portal and NIL had truly taken hold. They also had a 100% SEC schedule in 2020, so the stats weren’t padded vs bad OOC teams. His scheme does create opportunities and we will much more overall talent than that Ole Miss team did.

ETA: I can’t find the original site or stat category for this. Looking at total rushing yards they lead the SEC twice, and were never lower than 6th, which was last year when they didn’t have a true starting RB. Still pretty impressive statistically.

SEC Rushing

I read his stat as their average rushing yards per year over that 6 seasons was better than everyone else over the same period.

ETA, would appreciate links or source for these type of threads for veracity.

He did say “collectively”. Don’t have to lead the league every season to have the most total yards over 6 years.

Collectively. All 6 years together.

…as did I. Poster said “collectively”, not each individual year.
(Now I see I am late to this party. LOL)

I may be wrong as to whether it is average yards per rush vs total rushing yards, but the point still stands that it's a pretty damn impressive feat, especially given the lack of OL talent they've worked with.

So imagine the offense with real Baws on the O-line that do get drafted!

I didn't think you know what the word collectively means.

Remind me again, on how many years LSU led the SEC in rushing under Kelley?

Kiffin's worst year was 6th. I'd die for 6th right now. LOL

In 2023 we were 2nd in total yards and 3rd in average. But that was obviously an outlier.

I don't have any concerns. We went 7-6 last year with an injured QB that missed half the season and even when he did play, he wasn't very good because we had an OL that played embarrassingly worse than their talent level and an OC thst shouldn't be coaching middle school offenses, a coach that looked lost most of the time because he gave up 3 years ago. Our defense that was the only shining spot of the team lost a talented LB, all-world S and CB, but might have actually gotten better. And it looks like we are actually paying attention to special teams now.

Can you believe that a good scheme can take pressure off of your offensive line?
