One name to look at is dusty May up in Ann Arbor
He would probably come to BR if pot of gold is full enough

I don’t know if you are being serious or not…

If I am not mistaken, Todd Golden was hired by Florida the same year MM was hired at LSU. Look at them now. Look at what Golden has done for Florida and what MM has done for LSU

Dusty May is paid well and will soon be paid a lot more. There is zero chance he leaves Michigan to come here.

What can we do as fans to help LSU basketball become more attractive to young and energetic elite coaches ?

The sad thing is McMahon turned Florida down and they ended up with Golden

I’m not sure the fans can do much in that regard. I think what needs to happen is the admin needs to take a 10,000 foot view of what we want to be and build the program accordingly. IMO Houston is your model to follow. Defensive, athletic, guys you can consistently pull from your region that aren’t necessarily 4-5* players to create a sustainable foundation. Houston didn’t land a 5* player under Sampson until a couple years ago but have been 2nd nationally in wins for the better part of a decade.

from what i can surmise from this site and the couple of people i know, there is no "aside from" when it comes to Wade.... it's Wade or bust, in their view...
if that fails, i have no idea who is the contingency plan is

If we dont care about men's basketball and we want to save money we could literally hire any high school coach in the area and get the same results AND have more money to give Jay or Lane to make a better team.

There are a ton of good coaches out there and I don’t mean stealing some P4 guy with a decent resume. Look at the Vandy hire last season, did anybody on this board know his name? All he did was take a talentless team to the NCAA tourney year 1 and now in year two has a legitimate top 25 program. Again this guy was an unknown from James Madison.

One mid major guy who might be worth a look is Eric Olen at New Mexico. His first year there and has them 12-4 with a win over Mississippi State. Coached for awhile at UC San Diego and had a 30 win season there last year and almost beat Michigan in the big dance (UCSD moved up to division I only in the last few years). He’s from Mobile and played college ball at Spring Hill.
ETA Looked up some more mid major teams. Tony Skinn at George Mason has never won fewer than 20 games as a HC, hes in his third season and they are 18-1. He also was an assistant at LA Tech for a bit.

I hope we get that guy who won a ton of games then went to a lower school and still got them to the Dance. What’s his name…
Will Wade
