“ The City of New Orleans suffered a serious blow to its credit rating this week, with Moody’s Ratings dropping it near the bottom of its investment grade and warning investors of moderate risk on future bond sales.”

It is a testament to how shitty of a mayor that dirtbag Cantrell was. The fact that the citizens elected that shite stain twice, and failed to recall her is mind boggling.

NOLA will go bankrupt..

Many other cities will.

Pension funds in most states will go bankrupt.
Some states will as well...CA, Illinois etc

The next 15-20 years are gonna be wild.

They can’t keep their own rating good. I’d imagine it’s tougher when it’s not your own money.

Is the city even able to issue long term debt? Who in their right mind would invest in that?

Yet morons in New Orleans were angry at the new mayor for asking for volunteer DJs to work Gallier Hall for Mardi Gras and asking fellow politicians to create their own playlists rather than paying $200+ per hour like usual for DJs. Priorities and such...

The overlap with John Bel Edwards as governor allowed Cantrell to absolutely destroy the city. He did nothing to combat and check her incompetence.

Yep. JBE was petrified of standing up to Latoya. The two of them were a terrible combo for the city.

One thing I’ll credit Landry with is he put Latoya somewhat in line and got the state police down here.

Some one must not have thought that one through because the DJ would supply the audio equipment. If they thought a Spotify playlist was enough and a boombox from Sam’s with a Karaoke microphone that would not be enough audio to overpower the street noise. Now if the city wanted, they could purchase the audio equipment at a one time cost but then you will also have city workers working Overtime to setup and tear down.

But you could do what some other areas do, have the Krewes pay for it. If the Royalty is waiting for their King or Queen downtown with the Mayor and having a mini Royalty party at Gallier Hall, the Krewe should be responsible for the entertainment and wireless microphones.

Everyone that got into these wild pension funds the last 15years absolutely knew they were getting into a shell game and hoping to completely get over on Joe blow tax payer that would fund it

I won’t have any remorse when it all goes belly up. But taxpayers will still get the raw end

Because they were both involved in massive Covid fraud.

She ended up getting $40,000 in private donations for this and apologized to the DJs like she said something terribly wrong. Weak all around. Bottom line is she was trying to tighten things up budget-wise for a city with a gigantic budget crisis. We just have a lot of morons who live here that get their feelings hurt over the dumbest shite rather than getting upset about legit issues.

Landry said she did nothing illegal by using the city credit card for personal expenses.

He could have prevented her from getting elected the first time and instead chose to do nothing when asked.

Yeah, Jeff is part of the problem.

Also, fwiw, Latoya wanted Troop N put back together. It existed until 2000.

It was a measure that she stumped on loudly like 18 months ago. To turnabout in her first week and imply volunteers were needed - it was poor form.

I don’t mind volunteers stepping in but you can’t be the person running on being a champion of the city paying artists and like 36 hours in rug pull that completely and appear credible
