20th season making $64+ Million per year.

He’s turning into the Nancy Pelosi of sports.

I think the league could use a new face

The primary (read: only) responsibility of the NFL Commissioner is to make the owners excessive amounts of money and protect their investments. They’re his employer and who he works for. Not the good of the game, not the players, not the fans. That’s what the whole “Protecting the Shield” is about. He’s been top notch at that. Everything else is secondary

Being a face of the league isn’t really in the job description. Nor do the opinions of fans regarding him matter when they’re still voluntarily contributing to record league profits. Things are arguably better for everyone if he has no reason to be in the spotlight to begin with

Contract ends after 2027.

While no official successor is named, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's long-rumored top candidate, Brian Rolapp, recently left the NFL in June 2025 to become the PGA Tour's CEO, shifting focus to other potential internal/external figures like Troy Vincent, Renie Anderson, or Kevin Warren, though Goodell's contract runs through 2027, allowing time for new candidates to emerge as the league plans for its future leadership.

Well he did sign off on a halftime show that few of the 80K fans in attendance could see or even understand, I imagine he's been fielding calls from upset corporate CEOs all day, with complaints about how they lost 10+million eyeballs for their $15 million, 30 second ad because a shite ton of people tuned away.

All because he thinks the NFL is going to become super popular in Brasilia and Caracas.

Are you denying that millions turned the channel, that normally wouldn't have? Or are you one of those who think American football is going to perform a miracle, and become popular in countries where no one grows up playing it?

How popular is MLS in the USA? And that's with millions of kids pushed into it every year. There are soccer fields everywhere.......world's most popular sport, and can't garner a blip on the radar when they play a match here. Now imagine a country that doesn't even have a football field. That is the fan the NFL is going after. Does their logic of pursuing a growth there by booking some dude who is just popular because they like his music? Might be better off kneeling during the national anthem and embracing Fred who likes to wear a dress.

Why would he leave? He’s just the lackey for the owners and he plays the part well.

People thinking change is gonna happen are smoking crack. The NFL is printing money right now, especially with the streaming services being dumb and giving them anything they want.

Using the MLS as the benchmark when it’s not close to the most watched league in the US is a choice. Even moreso when you consider its insignificant % of the total soccer watching pie in the US. That’s like regarding MAC interest as a proxy for the entirety of college football

Sweet summer child might be understating it

He will retire after the CBA is renewed. It expires after 2030 seasons.
