100 members of the US Congress penned a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, urging the DHS to grant the US health care sector an exemption from the $100,000 fee on new H-1B visas. Led by New York Representatives Yvette D Clarke and Michael Lawler, the grand pool of American lawmakers highlighted that this sector particularly relies significantly on the nonimmigrant ‘specialty occupation’ visa category to hire staff members.

Why?
We have the people. Pay them what they're worth.
Take care of your people and they'll take care of you.
I'm not saying pajeets aren't capable but it's high time their own country took care of them.

Trump and Congress, the Visa Government.
If so many Americans are getting laid off, why do we need this shite?

Relying on something doesn’t make it necessary.

No H1Bs period. If we lack the domestic talent, then the government and corporations should invest in America’s education and training to produce it here. Otherwise, they lack any incentive to fix shite here at home and just import solutions.

Agreed. They are capable. That is not the point. They shouldn't be here unless there are not enough capable Americans.
I worked at a company that employed a lot of H1-Bs for software development. 95% of them were no different than any other recent American college graduate.

So this H1B thing has been around for 36 years now and Trump is attempting to make the fee even for H1B approval even higher, but of course we can find a way to blame him...

Sure the government needs to invest more. Let's not be lazy where we continually sit in the top 5 of investment per student like we have been. Let's get up to #1 and just hope like hell something changes and we rise up from 16th in math and 34th in science.

Except they work for a lot less and can easily be gotten rid of if they complain.

I think people on here expect more from Trump. Not just a band aid.

Then they have no idea on how our government is structured or how it works.

Way to miss the point entirely. The issue is education is broken in America and it’s not producing the necessary talent we need. Instead of importing solutions, we need to fix the issues at home preventing the talent from being produced domestically. Whether that’s an issue with funding, culture, or structure, it needs to be addressed. There’s no incentive for anyone to solve issues at home if they can just keep handing out visas to the rest of the world.

100k isn't that much money unless the motive is cost saving and not from a lack of qualified workers.

And you missed my point.
My point was counter to your "government should invest more". Nothing else.
Now we can talk about H1B visas if you like.
I mean, you do not want them here correct?
How about Americans using the same programs, offered by other nations, to go to work abroad? Is that ok? Maybe we should deny them that and keep them home?
