SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Louisiana has led the nation in population loss for the past two years, a concerning statistic for residents of the Pelican State.
The decline stems from major employer departures and insufficient job growth compared to national averages. Over the last decade, Louisiana has lost significant employers including GM, Luke Battery, and Libby Glass.
“Over the last decade we have lost major employers: GM, Luke Battery, Libby Glass... These were companies that I call were hiring ‘blue collar’ workers, paying them very good hourly wages,” said State Senator Sam Jenkins.

Yea but at least we are fighting to get the ten commandments in public schools! That’s gotta be worth something!

Jon Bel led the state for 8 of the last 10 years.
His stamp is all over our economy.

This exact headline has been posted for the last decade. Don't expect anything to come about it.

I've been through a few times and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. Not surprising.

I've lived here all my life, but I hope to move out of state after we retire.
The driving forces are things like the horrible condition of the roads, the tons of litter everywhere you look, crime, and the general stupidity and corruption of so many government officials. Every time we travel out of state, even to other poor, southern states, the roads/litter when we get back to LA are always remarkably bad and depressing.
There is a local bridge with a huge, busted couch cushion on the shoulder that apparently blew out of someone's truck. It has been there for months, while countless LEO, trash trucks, etc. have passed it without giving a damn. When the ice storm hit, they went around it with the road grader. That busted cushion is emblematic of LA and its problems.

Finally we're first in something!
I suppose it's better than saying we're dead last in population growth. Glass half full instead of half empty.

How about you be a good citizen and pick it up?
In before “That’s why I pay taxes” excuse.

Good. Less people here.
Less productive people here.
