Rep. Greg Steube is pushing it: "All of these individuals that are coming into our country are taking jobs away from Americans!" ??

"These are young, entry-level tech-type positions, like Microsoft is a big taker of H-1Bs. Amazon is the number one taker of H-1Bs. So they're taking away jobs from Americans."

"I can't think what would be more America-first than the doing away with a program that's taking away especially entry-level jobs for young people!"

H-1B visas were never intended for entry level workers in the United States. This government policy and law, with good intentions, has been used and abused to keep American workers from entering the workforce at livable wages.

I'm not a fan of abolishing H1Bs, but we absolutely need to restructure the program so that it cannot be used for entry or low level positions.

No thanks.

Create your own company in India or China that people want to use and hire your own people.

fricking begging at our feet for visas to work in our country.

This is the power we possess people.

I hope we start deporting the Indians with renewed visas so Americans pick up those jobs.

Time for playing around is over. Time to take it all back men.

Agreed, this should be pulling in experts in fields from around the world.

Not tens of thousands of Indians who are directly comparable to Americans.

And convenient stores. This is just proof of how the h1b visa system is abused. And on top of it, they are getting federal assistance that Americans don't get.

FX hires an Indian CEO, and they start laying people off and upping their h1bs too. It's ridiculous.

At the end of the day Indians that have lucked out and will not get personally effect by this and sent back will see how this helps them and their kids. Just like the American Hispanics that supported Trump, even when he said he was going to heavily deport illegals. They saw what negatives the heavy onslaught of illegals that Biden let in did them. Eventually it'll happen to the other immigrant groups.

The abuse is clear as day, and heavy with Indians. No way we'd have major enclaves of them in this country if it weren't for clear abuse and scamming of the system.

We all better be praying hard SCOTUS backs Trump's anchor baby EO. Otherwise, this nation will never be able to fix this problem.

Tell them to do the needful by letting Americans have American jobs.

1) this won’t pass because too many powerful people are benefiting from this.
2) I’m all for this.
3) house prices in Frisco would plummet

You mean there is a chance that we can get operators on the various "help lines" who can actually speak English??

This is the correct opinion, but the herds move on emotion, and passion is running high right now. As Daniel Defoe said in his time, “There are a hundred thousand stout country fellows ready to fight to the death against popery without knowing whether it was a man or a horse.”

Those “country fellows” never go away.

If we all agree that AI will be taking over many of our jobs…. Why would we want our college kids competing against H1-B applicants in a shrinking job pool.

I just hope they pass a law which tariffs ANY call center located on foreign soil to the point of inability for the business to farm it out.

My billion dollar idea is to create a “platinum package” available to AT&T, any airline, any software company, anywhere- that hires only United States citizens located in the continental United States who speak English as their first language. These behemoths who give so few fricks about customer service, not to mention their customers that they farm out dealing with them to people who can’t fricking speak English.

This same company would let you press O for a human being, and would not make you sound like a lunatic as you had to speak your problem to a fricking robot.

Now that everything is a freaking subscription (which I also hate beyond all reason) I would honest to God pay a premium to never again have to shout the words “operator” or “human” at the top of my lungs, or to go to some annoying fricking chat bot on your website. Of course I checked your website. Your FAQs are shite, and if I had an alternative to shouting operator at the top of my lungs only to speak to someone in freaking India who I can barely understand. I would.

Infuriating

Yep. Every government policy ends up the same way - rife with fraud and abuse.

There is a place for H1B visas, if used how it was intended - hyper specialized skills like nuclear physicists, AI engineers, etc. Not entry-level programmers and office workers.
