On radio today he said he expects the Saints to sign a RB quick in free agency, mentioned Etienne,, and they likely dont go WR or RB at 8.. more likely to go wr at 42.
His best guess at 8 was Bain or Downs (depending on how his knee checks out),

this is what I've felt like they are going to do too...

there's more value at the top of the draft on the defensive side of the ball vs. the offense, and there are a few good options in FA on the offensive side of the ball

I really don’t get the paying 2nd contract mindset to guys who have already burned their best years as a RB. Not saying you have to draft love at 8. But get the 2nd,3rd round guy and get his best, most explosive 4 years before the league takes them.

My one question would be what if DeMario leaves? I get that Washington should be all over Sonny Styles, but they are in the same camp I think as far as helping the QB. Whether it's RB or even WR. Deebo Samuel isn't what he once was.

I also think that if Washington has another turd of a year Dan Quinn might be out of there. And That's crazy considering they were in the NFCCG not long ago.

Nice. This is exactly what I’ve been saying we need to do for weeks. Except I rather Allgeier at rb because I’m sure he’ll be cheaper. Then go receiver round two and a IOL in round three.

I am ok with that if they do that in FA, along with an olineman. That said, I think they would regret not grabbing Love at 8 and letting KC grab him.

Just seems to me they would not want to dump a big contract on a FA RB.

if it is then teams can anticipate any free agent moves, we might make.

any trade deals we'd lose leverage.

My worry is that Bain will fall to them, and they will take him……..and we will have a significant chance of yet ANOTHER bust at edge

and I'd SPRINT to the podium, if it's Bain, and Reese, Bailey, and Styles are off the board....

i don't see it.... dude produced at a very, very high level, short arms and everything... he wasn't a workout warrior like our other busts, Davenport and Turner... those guys didn't have great production but they had good workouts, and i'd like to think that we've learned our lesson, at least just a little bit, about production vs. workouts

Bain’s arm length gives me some pause, even though I do love his versatility.

In my mind, I’d love Downs, Styles (highly doubt he’s there now), Bailey, or Delane. I’m not opposed to a trade down, but I don’t think the interest is going to be there and Mickey don’t typically trade down.

Im quietly hoping we go defense too. I think some fans and even media have an inflated view of what we are on defense right now because we played some weaker teams in the second half of the season. Im not saying we’re bad, and I like our DC but we need to get younger, faster and deeper on defense. Edge/LB if there’s still a difference maker there would be very un-Saints like to draft but I’d love it. Getting pressure with four makes everyone look good. Otherwise for me, I hope we take the BPA if it isn’t a QB or OT.

Yah I agree. We were solid on D last year vs a weak schedule… but we will have to replace Demario(if not this year soon), Cam and likely Alontae…

I’d rather use free agency to add a guard/rb/te and then use draft to get younger on D

There’s definitely a player the Saints are interested in that he knows about that but won’t say until a week or two before draft time. He does this every year. He usually throws out 1-3 names and it’s usually one of those guys.

Not saying they won’t take Downs or Bain or don’t like them but I bet there’s someone else. My guess is either Styles or Delane.

If Demario leaves I think they’ll either take Styles if he falls, or they just trot out Stutsman and Werner. I’d like to think they would add someone. Maybe the return of Analzone. But I think they’ll go mostly Offense in FA.

To be fair, LB is probably the one position they can skate by on IF the interior DL is better.

This thinking is outdated. ETN is 27. What’s wrong with getting him for his Age 27, 28 and 29 years and then dumping him after?

Also this RB draft class is abysmally bad

That’s just wrong. There’s at least 3 to 4 backs I would easily take over Etienne, and that’s before you consider all the other advantages of being younger, fresher, and cheaper.

Demario is 100% finishing his career here.

One of Bain and Delane should be there at 8 and that’s the pick.
