Released by the LA Chargers after a rather bad year. Familiarity and depth.

He had a rather lackluster career starting out as the 1st round, 11th pick of the Jets for 4 years.

Then played for the SB winning, Kellen Moore-led offense (put up a 70.8 PFF rating), and then got paid 2/20mil by the Chargers where he regressed into the arguably worst G in the league.

Should be available for cheap then. Bring him in for depth, maybe KM knows the cheat code to make him work.

so why would we entertain bringing him in? our G's need an upgrade, but clearly this guy is not it

Bold statement considering Ruiz is in the league.

No Way!!

This guy is a bum. I have been watching this guy since he got in the NFL. He was a backup depth piece that played decent during the Eagles dominant SB run, and now suddenly people think he is a stud player.

Yeah ok, then he signs with the Chargers and spends the majority of the year injured and on the sidelines just like when he was with the Jets.

I want no part of this guy. We already have OL problems, we don't need this guy. He is not a help.

Bekton and Penning in the same offseason would be a huge win for our OL bench.

Nah, if there is one spot to splurge spend it on a guard or 2. Spend big and still draft one. Whatever you need to do.

But bargain shopping for our biggest weakness is just setting up for more headaches.

Hell in a earlier thread I mentioned getting the top two guards. Edwards and Ingram.
But who or however doesn't really matter to me just use every resource you have to make our oline top half of the league not bottom half. A go for the best while your at it!

I wish saints could sign Zion Johnson or David Edwards. I haven’t heard anything about us courting any o lineman yet but I’m hoping to soon.
