Now we know how Trump got movement on Tina Peters.

The scientific consortium that runs the Boulder federal lab says retribution by Trump administration is only reason for dismantling the climate and weather research agency

quote:

The consortium of universities and the scientists that run the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder are suing their bosses at the National Science Foundation and the Trump administration to block what they say is political retribution against Colorado in the form of dismantling the storied lab.

The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, the group of 129 universities and colleges that contracts to run NCAR, filed suit Monday in U.S. District Court for Colorado against the foundation, the U.S. Commerce Department and other layers in the federal hierarchy.

They accuse the Trump administration of “arbitrary and capricious” actions to sell off pieces of NCAR’s research duties, gagging consortium officials from talking about it and canceling contracts in a revenge campaign against Colorado for refusing to bend to GOP political will. The consortium says it is being attacked because Colorado will not give up mail-in voting and other election measures Trump despises, and because the state will not pardon former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters and release her from a nine-year sentence for election interference.

Preparation for natural disasters is wildly overrated. Just roll with it. What's the worst that could happen?

Do we need to provide a reason beyond “we’re broke and can no longer afford this”?

You have to laugh at them whining about Tina Peters and Trump’s retribution.

You could say that about anything we spend money on. We can’t afford our defense spending either.

It’s just a matter of how important you think atmospheric research is.

colorado has more toxic waste dumps than any other state.
quote:

AI Overview
Colorado has over 20 major EPA Superfund sites, including the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Lowry Landfill, and California Gulch. These areas contain dangerous hazardous waste from mining, chemical manufacturing, and industrial activities, often with contamination managed by federal and state environmental agencies.

This is easy. The beautiful landscapes.

The same with California. Keep in mind the governors of those two states have nothing to do with creating the scenery that has attracted people to those places.

Hmm how many college kids attend this facility?

Now you know why an LSU education in 2040 is going to be $400k.
