What realistically could just changing a coach make… play in, maybe?

Play in will be even harder to make next year. Dallas and Utah aren’t tanking next year. Neither own their pick and Utah just made a huge move for JJJ this deadline.

Only west teams were better than are the Kings and Grizz.

You’re looking at 25-28 wins max next year if healthy.

This team cannot shoot, rebound, or defend.

damn those are kind of important when playing the game. That’s what I’m saying if we don’t have some major movement I don’t think prime Phil Jackson could do anything with this roster At least we have the draft….. oh damn

The Pelicans are a dead franchise until everyone associated with the running of this team has been fired or dies. Until that point, treat them like you would a local minor league team that you occasionally catch a game, maybe drink a few beers, but ultimately don't really give a shite about what they do. Your life will be immensely better.

Exactly. Hiring Darvin Ham would be very disappointing but honestly it doesn’t matter who the coach is. This roster is dogshit and whoever we hire will be fired in 3 years anyway.

Which is why I’m afraid that Dumars is going to trade more pics to try and improve this roster. That should scare you more than Darvin Ham

Play in?

We're 11.5 games back of the play in right now and trying to win.

So if you want a glass half full take:
A healthy Dejounte all year is probably worth another 5 or 6 wins. Having improvement (akin to Missi's) from Fears and Queen from year 1 to 2 is maybe worth the same. Actually playing for something as opposed to just finishing out a dead season probably impacts winning as well. So if those assumptions are true, and your coach is Borrego or better (and not Willie or worse) then the play in is a reasonable expectation.
The hole that would keep the team from going further is having THE GUY that can close out games. It seemed like Dejounte helped with that some, maybe Fears can become that guy, dunno.

I don’t see how this gets any better?

I know some people are high on him but Missi is a bust. He’s a defensive liability and his offense is averaging 5 pts 5 rebounds with 1 assist over 20 minutes a game. While shooting a blistering 60 % from the free throw line. Fears and Queen are building blocks

No. It's a bottom 5 team. Only teams i could remotely see us being better than (without factoring in major injuries obviously) are Washington, Brooklyn, and Sacramento.

I’ve taken this approach once Dumars was hired and Green brought back. Got even worse for me once he made the retarded trades with the Pacers and Hawks.

Only reason I slightly look in is to see how Fears is doing since he’s who I wanted us to draft.

Same. The Dumars hire killed any hope I had left. I’m just here to watch him burn this franchise to the ground.

Once they inevitably move the franchise, I’ll become a Spurs fan.

Sadly... it's years later now...

but hopefully the pels move zion and start over in that area.

The franchise hasn't had "real" life in it since 2017? When was that playoff series against the Warriors?

Is Queen really a "building block" or a supporting player?

Queen is not a building block. He’s too short and unathletic to build a team around. Too short to play the 5 and too slow to play the 4.

It’s the same problem we fell into with Zion. You need so many unique pieces to build a good team around Queen and Zion. You absolutely need a Rim protecting 5 that can also shoot 3s, which is rare and what literally every other team wants. Then you need shooting and defense at 1-3 because Queen and Zion can neither shoot nor defend

Not much. This roster isn’t good. No stars on this team currently. A lot of third option players on good teams. West is going to be rough again next year. Like you said at best we’re a play in but we’d have to stay healthy all year and other teams would need to get the injury bug

Why do you bother posting here if you like nothing about the team or organization? I do not like how things are going, however, I enjoy basketball and the Pels have NOLA on the front!
