Among SEC teams

We have 58, dead last
15th is UK. With 41

Aggies lead the league. With NINE

14th in walks
13th in HBP
14th in ERA while leading the league in Ks doesnt even seem possible

Glad you posted this. Hope everyone thinks about this when they start whining about two position players that transferred.

I would also add I've never seen as many dropped third strikes, or in general the ball popping out of the mitt. Maddening

I don’t care how many nation championships you won, putting together a team this awful is concerning.

And I feel like a few of the PB were closer to WPs, though Im'm also sure the opposite is true, so maybe it works itself out.

Passed balls is the most damning stat for this team. It also seems to ALWAYS lead to a run. It’s fricking maddening how many times that shite happens.

This team isn’t good enough to have the base ball gods hate them. It’s a really shitty combination of poor play and ZERO breaks.

Bad fundamental catchers don’t help with this stat. If Milazzo was our catcher, half those wild pitches are likey blocked.

It’s not just passed balls. It’s consistently having balls popping out of the catcher’s mitt. It allows extra bases to be taken when runners are on base. It’s also sloppy and can take strikes away from your pitchers. I’ve seen quite a few high school catchers who can frame and receive pitches better than Arrambide and Serna.

In 2024 we hit 54 batters in 66 games
In 2023 we hit 63 in 71 games (12 by Ty Floyd. Skenes hit 3)

I still know a damn good defensive catcher that would cut those down

Maybe it's time to take a look at Yeskie? I remember our bullpen being quite questionable until the back half of last year. Eyanson and Anderson covered up how weak our bullpen was through the majority of the season.

We know catchers are bad. The question is how much is this the catchers and how much is it the pitchers? The pitchers have unquestionably regressed on this roster. Every single pitcher from last year except maybe 1.

Easily half of those wild pitches are actually pass balls.

Our catchers suck balls.

Well the score keeper at the Box has been special needs for at least 10 years so it's hard to know how much of that is the pitchers vs catchers

Maybe we should find some pitchers that can throw strikes and then coach em up to get the velocity up instead of getting all of these guys that can throw at or near 100 mph and thinking we can teach them control.
