Honeymoon Recommendations

My fiancée and I are beginning to look at honeymoon destinations for early March 2027 and the sheer volume of options (including looking at old threads on here) is overwhelming.
We are envisioning somewhere in the Caribbean and we like to relax on the beach but then want to do some excursions type activities (we are by no means the most active people in the world, but also do not want to lay on the beach every single day).
Open to not going to an all inclusive and I'd like to keep the budget for 8-10 days around $15,000 at most.
Any help and thoughts?

We got married on a Saturday, did not leave for honeymoon until Wednesday. Made things much easier.

We did an all inclusive on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica at a Marriott resort. We did zip lining, and a lot of time chilling at the resort.
Another option is Roatan in Honduras; we went kayaking in the ocean, and there is a scuba scene on the Southern half of the island. It was a VRBO style, but there are condos and I assume all inclusives there. Roatan is fairly flat compared to Costa Rica, though.
Both are direct flights from Houston, at least.

Have you considered learning to dive? Scuba is amazing, and you would have plenty of time during your honeymoon to get certified.

An adults only in the Cancun hotel zone. Plenty of things within walking distance and enough daytrip options to keep things lively.

Make sure you do your research regarding sargassum (seaweed). It’s getting worse and worse and what used to be a summer problem is now a year long issue.
Most west sides of islands are safe.

You could rent a large boat with a captain and stay on it and island hop. Go diving, fishing, see different beaches, islands, etc. Not sure how much that would cost but it would be a fun trip

So many better AI destinations than Cancun / Quintana Roo but I would suggest looking beyond AI's.
St Maarten, Turks & Caicos, Grand. Caymen are all superior options to me over AI's in Mexico.
In St Maarten, even though it's more expensive I like the French side. Simpson Bay Resort, Marina and Spa has one bedroom beachfront for around $400/night. Casino, spas, day trips, great food, etc.
Ocean Club East in Turks is awesome. Right near a golf course, great staff, gorgeous beach. A little more selcuded but has a spa, dining, etc.
For Grand Cayman, anything along 7 Mile beach should do but we are partial to Kimpton properties and the Kimpton Seafire is AWESOME.

We went to St. Lucia 5 years ago. It was excellent. Stayed at the Royalton, but there are a couple of Sandals resorts nearby. One of the Sandals has over the water villas.
Sugar beach (Matt Damon was married there and has very nice snorkeling...one of our excursions took us there) and Jade Mountain might run you at least $1k-$3k/night.
Jade Mountain is our dream vacation spot!

Maybe the op doesn't mind but those resorts are not adults only. I've never experienced a more relaxing vacation than at live aqua.

Wife and I went to St. Thomas in the USVI's for our honeymoon almost 9 years ago. It was fantastic, but I would recommend staying on St. John over St. Thomas. The beaches are much prettier on St. John and it's not as commercial. We rented a jeep and stayed at a private villa. We are not much on the all inclusive resorts. We had a fantastic time and are wanting to go back with the kids as soon as they are old enough. We did a day sail that took us to varying snorkel and scenic stops. They have plenty of things like that to do and hiking as well. If you want more info on the place we stayed and where we ate let me know. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a tropical honeymoon.

$15k budget in the Caribbean for 8-10 days is a bit more than I would want to spend there.
I would consider an European River Cruise and some extra days at the start or ending destination. 2 weeks in Japan in March will be nice with Cherry Blossoms.

For Caribbean, outside of what’s already been recommended, look into Aruba. My wife and I went on a trip a few years ago, and it was better than our honeymoon in Grenada. Aruba is a small island, so just rent a jeep one day and they’ll let you drive anywhere, (through national parks, on the beach, off road trials, etc.) Outside of that they had a sweet bar/restaurant scene and some really nice resorts.

I appreciate all of the recommendations! Lots to look through and decide!

I would highly recommend looking at what Costco travel has to offer. We booked our Honeymoon through them and paid significantly less than we would have going directly through the resort. We went to St. Lucia and had an incredible trip, would highly recommend going there.
Also would very strongly suggest waiting a week (or at least a few days) after the wedding to leave on your trip. You'll both be exhausted and will be happy to have a few days to get settled after the big day.

We went to Sandals Royal Barbados in June 2024. I was a bit skeptical since it was a Sandals resort but ended up having a great time. The people in Barbados were great as well. We mostly stayed at the resort to take advantage of the AI offerings but we did a catamaran sunset cruise with snorkeling one afternoon and on Friday night we went to Oistins Fish Fry (a must if you go).
Another thing to keep in mind is that most of these AI resorts are located on public beaches so make sure you take that into account. As someone already mentioned, the sargassum has been a huge problem and I was not expecting that when we arrived. While looking at anniversary options for this summer, everything I read was that 2026 is supposed to be a bad year also.
Also, I would definitely recommend giving yourself a day to relax after the wedding before departing for your honeymoon.
