There was an enormous miseval of talent on this baseball roster

How does that happen at a place like LSU? Who is in charge of scouting these players?

All the players we got were good. Just didn’t translate. Some even made top player list.

Most of the transfers we landed were considered high quality at the time. You can check their stats last year to see that.
The problem is that they've all underperformed. Some of them, like Yorke and Simpson had to make big jumps in competition to get used to the SEC, and they couldn't adjust. Oddly, most if them have also been bad against midweek competition.
If I was Jay, I'd focus my portal attention more to the SEC and certain ACC schools more this year. Look at Tanks and Stanfeield... their stats basically translated perfectly to LSU from NC State and Auburn.

I believe in Jay and what he has accomplished at LSU and we are lucky he hasn’t taken a professional job. Having said that he wholly missed on talent in these portal guys. Almost like they made some list and he ordered it sight unseen. I do believe he hates watching this as much as we do.and will get it right next year. He also needs to show some progress with his players as I don’t see much improvement with many from last year.

I don't care what PerfectGame thinks. These coaches have to go out and put eyes on them and scout them. I have serious concerns about who's in charge of that particular aspect of this program, and no one seems to know who is.

Thank you for letting us know. I think this is the first time this topic has been discussed.

There is no lack of talent on this team. We are a few outs away from having won the first four SEC series. In fact, we win both of those series if Jay doesn't keep Guidry in too long against Vandy (game 1) and Oklahoma (game 3). In the last two weeks, the team has collapsed and has been swept twice. There may be a lack of many things: leadership, desire, coaching, team chemistry, etc. But there is no lack of talent in that dugout. They have proven they can win. They just aren't doing it.

Did you watch this weekend? There is a big gap between the 2 teams.

The retarded calendar the ncaa came up with did us no favors, then combine that with what Fat Scott did in pile driving our top 3 sports so we can dump money into women’s basketball and Olympic sorts didn’t help.
We were like two weeks behind in recruiting and the draft didn’t help us this year.
Teams that ran deep like us and arky are playing like shite. Coastal seemed to be on because they were young same with ucla

there really isn't anyway to know if performance at a smaller school will translate to performance in the SEC until you see them play in the SEC.
it's educated guesswork at best.

Oh, probably the same guy that hit homeruns on talent evals like Skenes, White and all the other talent on those 2 championship teams. The problem is, the talent this year isn't living up to the production they had last year and for some they are struggling to handle the rigors of playing against SEC caliber teams. Jay will have them back up there next year once Verge commits more money to the program.

All I keep hearing from Jay is that it's all on the players. How about take some accountability that your coaching staff has also sucked arse this year at developing anyone. There are maybe a handful of players who have really shown any consistent growth this season and that's all on him and his staff. What a piss poor job across the board.

bingeaux...stop reading articles about players promotional pieces that were paid for by parents. That is lazy lazy lazy recruiting, and sadly, I believe LSU was very guilty of this this past year.

I never said we have enough talent to win it all. But we 100% have enough talent to be better than 6-12 in the SEC. There is absolutley enough talent on this team to make the tourney. This team is not playing as well as they are capable of.
Jake Brown is hitting .214 in conference play. Does anyone here think that Brown doesn't have the talent to hit better in SEC games? Stanfield is hitting .270, which is well below where he was a year ago. In SEC games, Evans has a 5.94 SEC ERA, Schmidt is at 5.46. These guys are better than this. Cooper Williams, Gavin Guidry, and Rizy all have an ERA over 9.00 just in conference play. These are all players who are very talented and are having less success against opponents than they did in the past.

I have similar feelings about the admins on tRant.

That would also include all of these sites that project player ratings as well. On paper this was supposed to be one of the best transfer groups in the country, it just didn't pan out. You are not going to get a Paul Skenes, Luis Hernandez, or a Tommy White every year.
I am more concerned with the development of the younger players that were signed out of high school and their potential. The biggest issues on this team is the lack of a good defensive catcher, inconsistent pitching, and zero output from what was supposed to be a good transfer portal group.

We really do have the dumbest fans on the planet. The bad takes have been overflowing lately, but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
