Richard Sherman given a little too much credit?

I know it's a cardinals board, but they make an extremely good analysis and argument, for the most part unbiased. Read the last 2-3 pages of this thread
Does Earl Thomas make the Seattle corners out to be more than what they really are? Is it really him and Chancellor that allow the aggressive/risky style of play on the ball that turns their corners into stars?
I mean, 6th rounder Byron Maxwell was starting to look like an all pro last year.
Some of the posters on that cardinals board actually believe that both him and Sherman are just system players that are thriving off the success of Earl Thomas and Chancellor, perhaps that any decent corner can be plugged in to their system and quickly dominate. Interesting to say the least, and I recommend to read the last 2 pages above in the link.

There is no doubt that the Seattle front 7 are the reason their DBs are so good

Someone also posted a stat showing how often the top corners covered the opposing teams best receiver. Sherman was at like 27% while PP7 was 55% and Haden 60%.
It's easier to shine when your competition isn't as good.

Sherman lines up on the left side of the field 98% of the time. He doesn't guard the best receiver pretty much all of the time. Teams put their best receiver on the opposite side of the field as Sherman.

How'd that work out for them?

I tend to think that the Seattle coaching staff and front office knows if this is true better than anybody. If that were the case, there is no way they give a guy $40 million guaranteed that they could easily replace.

Sherman is a beast no doubt.
He is slightly overrated though. He doesn't have his own island.

The front 7 was not that good 2 years ago (and neither was Kam Chancellor since he was playing injured) and Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas were still 1st team all pro. People are just making stuff up now

I'd take Joe Haden over Sherman

I don't think that statement is very laughable. Haden is a beast

I have no idea how that is a funny statement, if you think sherman is that much better and there's no argument to be made for haden I think you're the one who likely needs to be laughed at

That's not laughable at all. It's probably how most NFL GMs feel too.

No doubt. I can probably guard a WR for one-Mississippi.

This board can't seem to make up it's mind. Yesterday, Peterson was supposedly better than Sherman. Now it's Haden.
Different flavor of the day.

The Gator homer in me prefers Haden (on a side, it was cool seeing those %ages on another thread about where they line up was neat too), but I have no issue with someone saying Sherman is a better CB. Both are really, really great players (which is awesome considering they haven't played the position that long, RS was WR for a while at Stanford, and Haden was a QB turned CB before Florida).
