Unlike Alton Sterling who had an extensive criminal history consisting of rape, domestic violence, drug dealing, burglary, possession of stolen goods/firearms, and other charges which prove he was a violent individual, Philando Castile was a hard working man who did things the right way. Castile was employed at a school, had never been arrested, and went through the correct legal channels to attain a concealed carry permit. While I believe Alton Sterling likely reached for his weapon in order to harm the arresting officers, the testimony Castile's fiancee provides backs up the fact that he was very likely a good man who was murdered by overzealous police. This is the first nationally publicized incident (Gray, Brown, Rice) where I truly feel like the police were in the wrong and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

"He let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm,"

"Kids loved him. He was smart, overqualified," the unnamed co-worker said in the school district statement. "I knew him as warm and funny; he called me his 'wing man.' He wore a shirt and tie to his supervisor interview and said his goal was to one day 'sit on the other side of this table.'"

I agree with your sentiment, Castile is the first case that I actually agree with the BLM people. I really think he was murdered without reason. I'm not sure whether race played a part or not, but I don't think there was any reason the cop should have shot him, and the cop should be indicted and tried in court

The governor of Minnesota said he'd likely still be alive if he was white. While that comment is irresponsible AF, you can pretty much rest assured that race will be an integral part of the coverage.

I can't disagree with this statement but my point is that I am MUCH more likely to believe that an employed, stable, concealed carry holder with no history of criminal activity was innocent vs somebody who couldn't stay away from trouble if his life depended on it. Why would Castile do anything threatening to the officer involved? He had everything going for him and was renowned as a great guy with ambition and a future. I think the officer is most likely entirely to blame for acting way out of line.

The governor of Minnesota will kiss any minorities arse if he can. Hell he could of shot at an officer and the governor would say he was innocent. This case will be difficult as well. Hopefully the dash as audio. If it does, then we will hear either give me your license or stop reaching in your pocket. One of the two will come out. But hopefully there is audio on the dash cam.

I'm sure there was a test he cheated on in grade school that posters here can point to.

There's not a part of you that can believe that? Come on. I nor anyone can say that with 100% certainty. But it seems rather plausible to me that had the guy been white this would have played out differently.

It bewilders me that some white people dont think that blacks are treated differently; that it's unreasonable to think that prejudice could be a factor.

It's like the white privelage thread. It boggles my mind that there's a large number of people here that think it isn't more advantageous to be white in America than black. And to go further that black people have it better in this country. Just astounds me.

I don't believe the video from Minnesota today. The woman is entirely too calm while the boy friend is dying beside her. If someone beside me was just shot, the absolute last thing I would think of is turning on my fb to stream the events.

We don't know what transpired before the video started. I'm saving judgement for routine toxicology reports of all persons at the scene and thorough investigation.

Regardless of whatever people think, her turning on fb is probably the smartest thing she did all day.

Yep, all we have to go on is the history of the people involved. One had never been in any trouble at all. Had a clear enough background to work at a school and have a concealed carry permit. He was traveling with his wife and child.

Nothing in his background suggests he tried to draw down on a cop but he's dead.
