Brown recluse spiders, a venomous variety native to the South and Midwest, earn their name for their tendency to tuck themselves in hidden nooks and crannies. Still, when Susie Torres of Kansas City, Missouri, took herself to the doctor's office for a "swishing sound" that wouldn't go away, she didn't expect that one of these eight legged creatures had made itself at home in her ear.
But when a nurse peered inside Torres' ear, that was exactly what the health provider found.
"She ran out and said, 'I'm going to get a couple more people,'" Torres told KSHB-TV in Kansas City. "She then said, 'I think you have an insect in there.'"

Venomous Brown Recluse

As opposed to the very famous, non-venomous Brown Recluse?

The brown recluse is one of the world's most poisonous spiders

PS - The brown recluse spider (Loxosceles reclusa) is rumored to be the one of the most poisonous house spiders in the United States. However, although the bite of a brown recluse in rare instances can prove damaging to tissue, a fatality from a brown recluse bite has never been verified.

Not sure if serious.....but in case you are, brown recluse is regularly categorized as one of the top 5, sometimes top 10 most venomous spiders in the world.

This is not the first time a creepy-crawly has found its way into an ear. The cavities apparently make attractive hideouts for all kinds of creatures, including fly larvae, flesh-eating worms and even a gecko.

Got bit by a brown recluse on the hand when I was about 4 years old. I remember I had a dead/rotting patch of skin about the size of a quarter on my hand even after visiting the doctor. Good thing I was 4 because it didn’t leave a scar at all. Very glad I don’t remember the pain of that bite.
