Went downtown yesterday to pay property tax for my rental property(not escrowed). I usually pay in person since I don't trust the post office. Got there and saw at least 45 min wait. A Sheriff behind a desk was tried to get my temperature to which I brushed him off and said "don't bother, I'll mail it".

Went home to mail it only to see the address goes to fricking Dallas? So BR city gov steals our money but needs someone else to count it?

BTW, my tax went from 2400 to 3000 this year. Been paying close to 25k over 10 years and I can't get public works to come out can trim the city's Oak branches that are encroaching the building. With 25k, I can recruit some Mexicans and start a nice tree cutting business.

Probably a lock box address through Chase.

Don’t ask me how I know that

Why mail it in? If you pay with a bank draft, it's only 75cents for the whole transaction(you can pay multiple property tax bills).

Definitely this. The bank does all the deposit processing and sends the Sheriff's department a register of who paid.

Because the Sheriff's Office contracts professionals to handle tax collection. It's a pretty massive undertaking.

Lots of bills go to Dallas for processing. Bill processing is a huge business there because Texas actually knows what it's doing when it comes to industry.

You are such a clever and important person. A tycoon who tells law officers what to do. Do you wear a top hat?

I got audited by the FL IRS about 30 years ago(had rental property in FL but lived in TX,) when I got the notice I called and asked where in FL was the audit going to take place, did I need to be there or can I send a rep? reply: no worries, we have an office in Dallas, I'm like, WTF??

You don't have to have your taxes included in your mortgage payment.

I didn't.
