Did Don Draper cheer for Alabama or Auburn during the 1964 Iron Bowl?

During Season 4, Episode 1 of Mad Men, taking place around Thanksgiving 1964, about a quarter of the way through the episode Don is by himself in his house watching TV, and I hear something about "the Tigers," and wonder if he is watching the Iron Bowl because there are no NFL teams called the Tigers, sure enough the 1964 Iron Bowl was the first nationally televised Iron Bowl. Alabama won the game 21-14. The fact that this is the Iron Bowl is bolstered by the mentioning of Joe Namath later in the season (from what I remember).
So the question is, if Don had a rooting interest, who would he cheer for: Alabama or Auburn? One may be tempted to say that he has a typical northeastern ambivalence toward college football, but he is originally from the midwest, so maybe not. Anyway, discuss (if you want to).

My guess is he didn't care either way.

A New York ad executive probably thought southern college football was totally beneath him.

If he was by himself all he cared about was how lonely he felt and how empty his life is with no family
If he was with his family all he cared about was how trapped and suffocated he felt his life was with these people he didn’t know how to love
So no he didn’t give a shite
To answer your question more directly, it was 1964 and he was from a small farm in the mid west. Him watching that game would be like you half watching a Corn hole tournament on ESPN. I don’t think he would give even a little bit of a shite about college football.

That's pre-Keith-Jackson on ABC, so Don wouldn't have been that entertained.

Don barely watched the fight of the Century in Ali-Liston. He was more interested in getting drunk at the bar and talking to Peggy.
Plus he never went to College so I doubt he gives a crap about Collegiate Athletics.
He's a war vet. An Orphan. A man.
He doesn't hold onto childish things if it's not his Alma Mater and can provide him business contacts.
There's not a single episode that shows Don as a generalized sports fan unless it's some big national event. Iron Bowl is not. Especially for a New Yorker.

Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Taglines:
The Iron Bowl - No matter who wins, somebody's screwing their sister tonight.
The Iron Bowl - Roll Tide or roll a tree.
The Iron Bowl - If it doesn't work out your way, you can always shoot a relative later.

Some people have way too much free time on their hands.

Don Draper was a man who fabricated his background and stole the valor of someone else, so he would most likely respect & admire Alabama’s made up championship claims.
(Sorry….too easy

Let's bring in Salvatore to sketch up some posters.

Isn’t it more likely it was on in the background while he was banging a hot chick?
Probably trying to time her screams with the announcers calling “Touchdown!”

There were like 4 or 5 channels in NYC back then. It's not like he had much to choose from.

I doubt anyone in New York gives a shite about two southern college football teams.

He was pretty pumped to get hammered with Freddy at the Mets game. Haha
