Malcolm Brown got all the work with the starters but put up trash numbers. Any concern that Gaskin won’t be the lead back?

The concern should be that Brown is the redzone back.

Definite concerns there. Gaskins was a 7th round pick. He played well last year in a lost year but has all the makings of a guy who could lose snaps and get pushed down the depth chart this year. Even if it isn’t Brown they can always pick up and trade for someone else. He definitely is no lock

Malcolm Brown

dude just won't go away, he was cock blocking Henderson and Akers all last year.

He only averaged .8 ypc but he still caught a 7 yard pass, which is supposed to be Gaskin's wheelhouse (I know it's just preseason)

It's a concern that he started. Even if that flips & Gaskin starts week 1, It doesn't look like Brown is going anywhere.
I was high on Gaskin all offseason after he finished last year with 40 pts on my bench.
But it looks like this dude will probably be a thorn in Gaskin's side.

Will be a situation to watch next game.

I’m thinking Gaskin will probably get about 12 carries a game, not the work horse load I was hoping for since I have him in a dynasty.

His presence could hurt Myles Gaskin some, but come season opener, nope. Brown's a "journeyman" brought on a new team. Preseason work means essentially nothing.

Some NFL Teams are essentially mothballing their starters. With a 17 game season, Week 2 is where you'll see the trends develop. Maybe his ADP is dropping some now, but Gaskin should probably be considered a Top 25 RB and a solid RB2 still.

I could be very wrong but Gaskins just seems to fit the mold of the guy that flashes at the end of one season and becomes a massive disappointment in the next.

I feel like this happens every year. He isn’t guaranteed nothing

Chan Gailey isn’t the OC anymore and they gave Brown a one year, fully guaranteed deal. Gaskin role from last season likely doesn’t carry over

Unless we see Gaskin running more with the first team in the next game, I think I'm gonna try to stay away from him.

I feel pretty okay getting him as my RB4 fairly late, other than that it is a dart throw. He COULD be pretty good though!

Well that sucks a lot. You’re right most of the time.

It’s still preseason, but yea this is more respective of what we should see during the regular season. Brown will spell Gaskin, and possibly take goal line work. But Gaskin will get a lot of targets and be a solid start in PPR. Brown may have been brought in for more, but so was Jordan Howard last year. You just have to bet on the player here, and Gaskin is way better than Brown

The workload leaves a lot to be desired though. Though he did convert a goal line carry and 4 catches in a half is good

I generally take preseason with a grain of salt, but I agree. Gaskin won some points tonight, and likely solidified his 1A role. The volume won't be there, but for PPR he looks solid.
